submutant underground

By george bowles on February 7, 2016 7:48 pm

this is hiphop alias trolldogg. track is probably not quite finished, as i'd like to add some louder vocal parts, but it was late in an apartment building recording last night so had to be quiet vocally. and maybe more basslines on an amp and some additional live percussion of some type. but here it is, sounds pretty finished for only taking a few hours to make (probably about 3 hours i'd guess).

this is all my analog synths in one song. started with the gakken (get one!) along with drum machine from G1on and fx from that as well as a zoom multistomp. then added a track of monotron, and lastly some korg poly 800. the other two tracks are me using the end of a cord through guitar pedals that produced some nice bass. and the vocals:

yo, i don't want the dough
you can keep your filthy dollar
and buy some blow
you think outdated currency
can buy the show
so you can go and

your vapid life
can't see a light
you are less than nothing
just a tyke
feeding off the masses
like a knife
backstabbing sucker
a parasite

then i freestyle a bit saying the submutant underground is invisible. yadda yadda yadda. plus beatboxing!

wanted to do a project that sounded like Dalek, Techno Animal, Cannibal Ox, JK Flesh, stuff like that. i liked how all the synths sound super crazy through the guitar pedals. had a teacher when i was studying sound in college and she was always a big proponent of using guitar pedals as a good way to funk up a sound.

oh HELL YEAH on some Cannibal Ox type isht right here.  Reminding me of the cool slide guitar stuff on "Pigeon".  Did I miss the vocals??

The Mars Rover goes insane (in a really good way). Who needs vocals when you've got a wall of sound like this?

Awwwwwwwwww yes.  Deeply satisfying drums, signals-from-the-outer-void synths, some straight-up Nyarlathotep-hop up in here.

Yeah! Yall are too kind and this was super fun to make. I hadnt recorded anything for the week until saturday night after a really good show i saw, 3 amazing live bands. Almost went out later but decided to go home and make this instead. Had a nice buzz going on but coherent.

Reminds me of Dr. Octagon. A really crazy number.
As a guitarplayer I can only support the use of pedals.
