@Kohlhofer
I like the track and the visuals (although minimal) gave me a sense of being there in the room, I got nostalgic sensations of putting on a tape which suited the music quite well, I especially like that you didn't cut it short and kept the unloading of the tape at the end

Your choice to keep the audio from the room including the tape button noises was a good one

The warbly pitch shifting effect sounded good
not sure if it was from the tape player or part of the recording, but it fit the vibe

Possible directions you could have taken:
This clip successfully sets out to do everything that (I think) was intended, so there is nothing to add or remove, good work!

@Kohlhofer
really like the (presumably plonk or rings?) plucking sounds and the polyrhythms, the detuned sounding quiet melody part in the background adds a lot to the emotional quality of the sound

reminds me of:

I'm interested to know how you would have taken this into another completely different 'section' if you wanted to create a strongly contrasting alternate "side" to the song, to create juxtaposition

Something I would do near the end is open up all the decay envelopes to max and really let the melodic content grow into something huge, perhaps reverb could do the trick too but it'd be a shame to smear out those beautiful transients, I'm keen to know what you think as far as progressing this piece into other 'sections' since when I used modular, it was the primary thing I struggled with

@rANGEL
Really like the mood of this, seems like some sort of tripped out hong kong artsy thriller/horror movie music
video being at 60fps is really great for creating that otherworldy psychedlic sensation with the visuals

reminds me of:
the lain soundtrack

so many anime soundtracks, I'm seriously outting myself as an otaku today '_-

Possible directions you could have taken:
maybe add some very different sections to juxtapose? not sure what I'd do, maybe hold some of the 'notes'(drones) that came in for a little longer and add some emotional anchor to everything? perhaps go super steady with the beat for a short time and then go back into the stutter'y random side?

@Tristan Louth-Robins
I wish this went for a little longer, I feel like the good parts of a track like this are to be able to put yourself into a unique sound world and just sit in it for a good while, and the shortness was a bit abrupt

also the visuals felt a little disconnected from the track, but just the fact that you're willing to go out into the world and record stuff is a huge deal and really positive

so I'd say just get longer shots so you can tie it in the with music in editing a little easier

reminds me of: Mego editions sorta stuff like this
Klara Lewis - Ett

Possible directions you could have taken:
I would have added a few more layers of sound design on top, really thicken the sound out a bit and give yourself some more channels to play with, bring some elements in and out, try to think of a 'goal' as to where to take it, somewhere to start and somewhere to finish

or alternatively, make the choice to just have it sit in the one place, but maximise the 'effect' of that space

This weeks vid!

been busy with emergency househunting/moving, so it's just a performance video and not a tutorial/weeklybeatsbehindthescenes/pseudovlog this time around

Certainly inspires me to maybe throw some emphasis on my own working methods in the studio. smile

Do it!

I can recommend the free version of davinci resolve if you haven't already got an editing program of choice
