ya know what... let's do this.

FLStudio is the heart of it all. Just upgraded to v20.6 and diggin' it. I have NI Maschine, but mostly just use it as an instrument to layer beats or perform with instruments which I drag as audio into FL's playlist. A few MIDI controllers (APC40 mkII, NI Komplete Kontrol S61 mkII). I do have Ableton 10.1 which I really just use for playing live, but everytime I build an Audio Effect Rack, I really want to get more into production in it - hoping to write an all Ableton song sometime this year.

Oof, not sure what was decided but I noticed the first upload time was schedule to start sometime today oddly and I took a look and it says there's only 23 hours remaining to upload Week 1. I think we're not supposed to start until tomorrow or Wednesday. :x

In WB2018, I challenged myself to make a short video clip for each WB track to post to Instagram (60sec or less). This was to get more comfortable with video editing in Premiere primarily, but also have a good stash of assets for live visuals (which did come in handy a few times).

For WB2020, I'd like to learn more with creating visuals from scratch with programs like After Effects, Resolume (which I love but don't do much generative stuff), even Unreal - small goal of make a VJ loop or clip as I explore those apps hopefully related/inspired by the WB audio. I thiiink I might still do a 60sec Instagram video clip for each track too, since that was a lot of fun and I feel way more comfortable with Premiere now.

For the audio specifically though - the TOUGHEST part about weeklybeats for me has been how easy it is to justify buying more VSTs, haha! So to try to combat that, I want explore the tools I have to know them more. Dig into the menus, make and save patches/presets, watch tutorials then go in another direction as I twist a knob a different way than they suggest, hah. I genuinely hope by December 2020 I haven't bought a dozen more plugins. But if I fail that particular self-imposed challenge... that's OK too (hah).

Week #4:

I'm striving to post 15sec teasers to Instagram when I have time for a given week, and the track compels me. Here was Week #2:

I love FLStudio. I also really like the free upgrades for life, once you've purchase it.

Though I have a collab project that now starts off in Ableton, and I can see the power it has with midi routing, clips and effects racks. I hope at some point during the year to make and post some wb tracks all done in Ableton. Though I'm still pretty comfortable with all the FL keyboard shortcuts and automation clips and just throwing anything onto the playlist to stretch or chop up.

Hoover.

I probably use Parametric EQ 2 most over all other plugins. Recently though I've been using Guitar Rig, Permut8 and RP-Delay, among others, for morphing and reshaping sounds.
