Starting January 1st 2024 GMT each participant will have one week to upload one finished composition. Any style of music or selection of instruments are welcomed and encouraged.

I have no idea why my latest song hasn't gone up. Absolutely sure I went through the upload process. Any chance I could get a link for week 4 please? that'd be awesome.
Week 4 isn't even live yet. You can just upload it right now from the front page or something.
Week 2, 150 songs, 52 were copyrighted; it looks like we're losing people already. 945MB unpacked, 894 MB packed.
In 2014 I was a ukulele player; firebeedog was a recorder player for most of their songs, but quit some way through.
You can technically waive your rights in the description.
Can we possibly have the option not to allow downloads of tracks?
Weeklybeats is a personal challenge for me and although I like people listening to tunes as I make them, I have no interest in making what I upload this year available for download, since part of my yearly practice is to make stuff but not release a thing.I already have a problem with all my past Weeklybeats submissions being in the torrents even though I erased the submissions from the website.
From what I've been told, it's part of the framework; but if you don't want your stuff to be in the torrents, make sure you submit it as copyrighted, I've made absolutely 100% sure copyrighted songs are not in the torrents.
It'll still be mentioned in the copyrights notice, but it won't actually be in there.
I came across a discussion I had on facebook in 2014 about samples for WB entries, regarding the Seinfeld music.
Considering the Seinfeld theme almost exclusively uses sounds from the Alesis HR-16B and Korg M1, would it count as copyright infringement if I used the same sound set (ie. if I actually used Korg M01D and a HR-16B), but with my own melodic content?
No. Not on the part of Seinfeld, probably not Korg/Alesis either. Unless there's a big similarity to the theme, there's no problem.

That's the composing part, I still change some parameters and the instruments after that.
Right now it's doing notes first, then the bass notes from the first note of every bar, then the progression from the bass notes.
Is classical music OK to post when it's not copyrighted anymore? Like lute pieces from the 1500s? I'd see that as a cover version. It's not an original composition, though. Would that be OK to post?

Ah yes, space, it's a theme every year. I guess it just never really goes away, considering space is so big. Songs are already sorted by week, go to the front page and click on a week to get all the songs of that week (there's only one now, but trust me, it works). Also, historically, only about 10-20% of people actually adhere to the theme; still, there already is a tag system, so every song adhering to the theme could add some specific tag to their song.
That's just the problem with shoutcast servers, they're servers. I'll see what I can set up though.
Hello! what is the purpouse of the "Favourite" function? i was hitting that with the hopes to list my favourite tracks all together, but i can't find that action. any tip?

On the music page, change the filter to "music you've favourited" or "artists you've favourited".
One of the community initiatives is the torrents, week 1 went live, but doesn't contain all the songs. If you want them all, you can use this downloader, for which you'll require python 3.5.1. It relies on the RSS, which gets updated weekly and after a while some drop-off occurs, where you can't download a whole week anymore. To change the week to download, open the PY file and change the weeknr variable to the right week.
Is it possible to edit the copy accompanying an upload before it goes live? I clicked again on the upload button, but it doesn't seem to take me to the post.

You have to delete your submission, then you can submit a new one.
A brand new year, a brand new torrent for week 1. 152 songs, 955mb unpacked, 904mb packed; 54 songs were copyrighted, which means if you wanted your song to be in there, you shouldn't copyright your stuff. Sorry chap, them's the breaks, it's a learning experience for all of us.

Trash80 is hosting this.. i dont know about any of the other stuff, but i have no intention of helping with missed uploads or with reviewing this year..
