Klystrack is free AND open source (an AHX style tracker)

Sunvox is free for all desktop platforms (a buzz style tracker)

Renoise is actually free for everything apart from rendering audio to disk, but you know this already smile File sharing has been encouraged more lately (instruments, songs, themes, fx chains). Of course if you use VSTs that complicates sharing.

ShcismTracker is a free implementation of Impulse Tracker

All of these are multiplatform I think.

There is no standard file format to be shared though.

2014 for me was about getting from the groovy loop stage (something I used to get stuck at a lot) to something that is interesting for at least 1-2 mins. Six months in I got much better at that thing but realised it takes A LOT more when I want a proper 4 min-ish track with plenty of meat on its bones.

2016 My first focus is going to be on writing melodies as opposed to say sound design. I have some ideas where I might go from there but I'm gonna let things move freely. Also I hope to try some things off my sizable list of ideas that I keep adding to but almost never read.

But I'm really here for the good company wink

What is "featured music" filter exactly?

Thanks for this man!

Mad effort etc

"that's what SHE said"

Both of these apps have a free desktop version (at least for Windows, not sure about osx)

Interestingly enough, my tune for the week is going to be Caustic3 because I was fucked for time and had to make use of the bus rides to and from work.

Hmm so today we have 371 week-2 songs.
Pretty sure there were 370 when it all went live and then there were 369 yesterday.

What's going on there?

*EDIT
Ah must be related to the preceding posts that I DIDN'T READ

You have an entire week to listen to all of the tracks!

I haven't used FL mobile either, but I read that you can't change or import sounds, wtf

Re SunVox/Caustic, I find former to be more powerful, but the latter behaves pretty much like reason, so if you like to twiddle little on-screen knobs with your little finger, that is the way to go.

If you've never used trackers it can be a bumpy ride, honestly I have yet to see a touchscreen tracker with a good interface. What you can do is use sunvox's on-screen piano keyboard to enter the notes and then just fix the timings by hand. Then go wild with the nodal signal patching!
