I am so ready. This off year felt different... it kind of wasn't an off year because I was working on multiple projects at the same time for the entire year, looking forward to the random ideas that Weekly Beats always inspires!

I love this! I mean, I love all of you. WeeklyBeats is so special to me, I owe so much to this page ever since 2012... Up until then I didn't know how to finish a tune. I still probably don't, but I've stopped trying to convince myself that I don't??? smile

Hey smile it happened... I missed the deadline playing too close to the wire while working from home, can I please get a link on this occasion? (Week 26)

Sorry, this reply seems like a huge flex

If anything you should be flexing more.  I want to remind everyone that Tweaklab also played his first live show EVER this year with me in 2020 (online!)

Hehe I see you're still adjusting to 2020 being 2 years ago now as well xD but this is true! in 2021, I totally did my first live performance on Twitch and it was fun, and I had all the expected technical issues that I didn't know about until it was over (I was opening for Orange Drink though, so you know, WE'RE DOING IT LIVE! F**K IT)... capturing the wrong audio, causing a delay of what you saw and what you could hear, and my guitar pedal was distorted as all hell lol. Must do it again soon!

Welcome back, everyone! (I haven't started this week's yet, but...I kept up a steady pace through 2021, including hour-or-so-long weekly performances. So...not too rusty.)

Stong output!

So I actually had 47 (not counting) tunes ranging from WB2012 - WB2020 appear on the latest series of Fat Pizza: Back In Business a few months ago smile I was lucky enough to get permission from the show runners to put a compilation album out that leans on the name, reached out to a few of the cast and they agreed to collab with me. There's even a music video! (Scary Clown warning!!) which was one of the coolest things I've been able to work on. George has been on TV since I was born, and no doubt a musician for a decade or two before that. So it was surreal getting to work with this guy. He provided the vocals, guitar and acoustic bass and entrusted me to "Tweak" it up with some drums, keys, sequencing/mixing/mastering etc.

I also have a bunch of WeeklyBeats popping up in my soundtrack album for "GoldenEra" which you can check out soon!

Sorry, this reply seems like a huge flex, it's more testament to what a nuts year 2020 (edit - I mean 2021!) was when I should have been recovering from WeeklyBeats 2020 - I was working call center work with 3 kids around all of this too smile

This one was a song I wish could have been written initially as a WeeklyBeat so more people could hear it, I picked up an acoustic guitar in 2021 and this is my first go at recording with it - a fun 4/4 swing house track featuring another comedian "James Liotta" doing his elderly Italian couple "Pasquale and Maria" voices, all about them living in the current times of COVID-19 and locking down and checking in with mobile apps etc... I wrote the script smile

I am so keen... but also so ready to stop... but I'm not going to! This will be my 3rd year of non-stop beat making in a row hahaha. After Weekly Beats 2020, I spent 2021 finishing my score for GoldenEra (upcoming documentary about GoldenEye: 007 on the N64 and the team at RARE behind it, who went on to form Free Radical aka made TimeSplitters!) on the side of that I've also been commissioned to make 2x EPs for Aussie comedian Benny Bogan, both have a single out so far ("Demons" and "Straya" on all platforms), and I've still managed to make some typical "Tweaklab" music for a TV show or two lol. BRING IT ON! smile

I don't want to do this but if you do it I have to do it, so I hate you TWEAKLAB!  Congrats on keeping busy on the offseason!  Very big moves for my boy heart

(When I went to click "quote" I clicked "report".  Maybe not an accident? smile )

Hahaha I've already started writing lyrics for Week 1 and you are referenced, so yeah, you need to do this. But don't overcommit! I did that this year... it's not fun. A soundtrack, 2x EPs for someone else and your own 35 track compilation while working and being a dad of 3 is not easy lol. Glad I at least quit Twitch streaming during all that, I value my sleep to SOME degree!

Thank you sir! A Tweaklab treasure trove! And I'm stupid, I was already following him on Bandcamp...

Good to see you here OrangeDrink, looking forward to your tracks this year!

I am very excited to announce that since my last post... I received my first HARMONICA from Secret Santa (not so Secret as one of my colleagues was able to tell me what key the harmonica was in before I finished opening it, after guessing it was a harmonica because of the size/weight) it's in G! One of the TV shows I provide music for, Housos, is shooting another series right now for 2022 and it will feature a bunch of prison scenes... I am so keen to go deeper into experimental territory in 2022! But seriously, I'm going to TRY and put less pressure on myself to make every week a banger. Ya'll should too! smile

Hmm, I think my goal is to rid myself of this self-imposed notion that every song idea is precious, and a potential amazing life-altering song in hiding (I just have to "perfect it").

I want to try making lots of shit songs (and some good ones) rather than a very small amount of good ones. I want to practice being kind to myself when I struggle and fail at this, also.

Best of luck, everyone!

Yeah. This is exactly what I love about WeeklyBeats. Prior to 2012 I would NEVER "finish" a song, after making beats for almost a decade by that time. Since WB2012 I've made hmm, 250 tunes or so and consider 95% of them "finished" as what they are, where there's always been a few key tracks from each round of WeeklyBeats that I bookmark to come back and make a more fresh version with more time and skill gained etc. On the flip side, WB is a great excuse to grab one of those project files that has been haunting you for years in the "never good enough" stash and to just go right. This week I'm going to make a "VERSION" of the track I'm happy with and upload it. That's worked well for me in the past as well!

Finish a one-man-metal-EP that I started early 2019 (I'll probably release the tunes as a WeeklyBeat each week that I "finish" one, hoping the project gives me the push to finalise these tracks and release them unto the world. It's kind of a follow up to CyberFunk Radio!)

Make some beats for my Twitch channel as an excuse to experiment, also release some YouTube videos mainly video game related and music project file deep diving etc, I also plan to stream my WeeklyBeat sessions on Twitch whenever possible! https://twitch.tv/tweaklab

Get better at live instruments! Slap the bass. I finally bought myself a bass. Epic. And, replaced the 8-string with a 7-string so I'll be playing a lot of metal riffage again.

I'd love to collaborate more this year, but work and kids will be a challenge to get all of these things done... which is why I love WeeklyBeats so much, it seems to just happen anyway wink

YES!!! I've checked on the site a few times this month, so excited to see the 2K20 logo (which looks fantastic by the way!) on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas all, so excited to have another round with you all. Until then, I had some crazy last minute music stuff happen in the last quarter of 2019 - a new series of Fat Pizza (a cult classic TV show in Australia) and they ended up using more than 25 tunes that I've made, 90% or more of which were WeeklyBeats at one point lol you can check out the album here!

I was even permitted to remix the "Chicks" track from the 2003 Fat Pizza movie which was a heap of fun and they managed to squeeze it into the final episode. Clip here!

I concur. I have learned more about production and my own road blocks since WB2012 and enjoy it every year we come back for more. I'd be down for 2020 (as per my last WeeklyBeat if anyone cares to listen! the vocals are literally "Just another week, just another beat, see you all in 2020.")

I was reading over my WB2012/2014/2016 posts and tracks / comments and it's like a blog of my life. I became a father during WB. I learned how to enjoy my job and stop getting stuck on music projects that had to be "perfect" so I could push that energy onto the next track rather than getting deflated stuck on an old one. I've had music in TV shows, a movie, and even joined the GoldenEye: Source team as a music producer/remixer all thanks to the confidence (and music) WeeklyBeats has enabled me to produce. I got married. I moved house twice. I picked up guitar for the first time in 2014 and have never looked back. It's such a time capsule!

WB is a fantastic community and we really should try and keep some sort of hub in the form of a Facebook group where we can all post our new tracks / EPs / ideas, seek out potential collabs etc. I recently joined a Propellerhead Reason Users group and the tips and tricks people post has helped me gain so many little know hows in the last 3 months so I can just imagine what a WeeklyBeats community fuelled group would be like!

See you all in 2020 smile I'll be working on a few things in 2019 though so keep an eye out on my bandcamp, spotify etc!
