My WB 2k12 was done entirely on the OP-1. It featured heavily in 2k14 too but I added some PD stuff and modular. This year (and last), I am now a "registered composer" at Elektronmusikstudio in Stockholm so I'll be using the Serge and Buchla modulars there from time to time. But there are countless other experiments to be carried out too...most likely many will be featuring the device I have invented (with friends) in my day job...automat.

104/104 here. Number 104 is a special tribute to 2012/2014.

Much easier to handle this time around, because my main job is making music it was rarely a hassle. Sometimes it was done last minute due to being really busy, but not that often.

Like vinpous, I am a 2k12/2k14 vet smile

104 in the can cool

I got a few raised eyebrows when I said that I was thinking about doing 2k14, from those who remembered (and yes experienced the side-effects of) the stress involved...! I was much more chilled about it this year, but still managed to maintain a certain standard. In fact, I prefer my 2k14 stuff on the whole.

It's a brilliant site and if there's a 2k16 I'll be there...

This is a good thread, this one. I like to test stuff out as well. This year started out with me promising not to throw lots of energy at the project, but I shudder to think how many hours have been sucked dry in the process wink My humble plan was to test out patches for my iOS project, but then I got into all sorts of other stuff like modular and aleatoric experiments. It's addictive! Hoping for at least a year's respite like last time...would be a crying shame if it never returned though.

Yep. Also I like your profile pic.

I've been spending a lot of time this week revisiting and listening to Eno/Fripp's Evening Star colab from 1975.

Been enjoying the considerably more recent Small craft on a milk sea this week. Will check out Evening Star, so much Eno to get through smile Also been catching up on some Lustmord and, as a sort of temporary spinoff from that, a bit of classic, terrifying Diamanda Galas...

No surprise maybe that it's been hovering around -8 or so here...lots of snow too. Certainly seems like it's influencing my stuff this year. I've been here since 1999, and the lack of light is definitely getting to me after all these years...feeling very pale and undernourished wink

Well said, an0va...it *can* be done and maybe the results won't always be perfect but several times out of 52 you will be pleased and surprised. In 2k12 it speeded up my workflow so much that I managed to put out other stuff during the week for competitions and such (and won)...wb is totally good for you smile

my modular is pretty hands on so my 3 year old sometimes plays with me.

cool yet another reason to topple over the edge into modular world... smile

Got two kids too, same sort of deal - while they're sleeping, do a few hours music, a few hours writing code and a few hours desparately trying to get enough sleep to do the whole thing again...

cool, as you were.

(tho, i'm pretty comfortable with live at the moment) (this will be a fun year to explore)

Hmm. Noticed that too, have promised myself to investigate. Not that I really feel the need. I try and avoid my computer as much as possible, which basically means doing almost everything on the OP-1. But when I have to I use Logic, and now puredata all the more. Audiomulch is still a favourite, at least until I get around to building something as fully featured as the granulator and the nebulizer fx in it (in puredata that is).

Always on the lookout for cool new stuff though.

As we've got reading and listening going, how about this? This is basically because I'm watching I Dream of Wires at the moment and it seemed pretty relevant! It's a pretty nice documentary that makes me want to give up my day job and go and live in my basement with a mad custom EuroRack.

Also, who's seen http://vimeo.com/7939104 ? There's a sequel that I'm going to pick up at some point, where they shift it up a notch and use JCBs and such in the same way... cool

In addition to listening to as much of the 2014 contributions here as I can, I've been in a heavy Jason Molina phase (RIP) with the reissue of Magnolia Electric Company and Fading Trails.

I finally bought the Magnolia Electric and Hecla & Griper reissue LPs yesterday, and now my Molina discography is complete. And that fills me with such sadness...

It's been a while since i listened but I was totally into his stuff a few years ago. Saw him live here in Stockholm, brilliant gig. Such a sad tale the whole thing...

As soon as I get some time for it, I'll dig out my old screenscraper script...seemed to work pretty well in 2k12. But maybe Trash80 has got loads of data ready to go straight from the db...? smile

Loads of people must be using Lame though (i use audacity for example)...

I'm pretty sure that Audacity uses Lame, too, since they say on their site that they can't distribute mp3 encoding software themselves due to software patents (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/fa … i=lame-mp3), so I don't think that's really the difference. What kbps do you encode at?

128 kbps. That's actually what I meant - that Audacity uses Lame. I could have been clearer but I meant that the options when using Lame encoding must be what the difference is.  Perhaps you took something slightly higher, and some of us had some bad internet conditions...? Can't think what else it would be really, as it played for some.
