Chuck? Hardcore. Interested to see stuff you have done/will do with that.

Here you can hear some short sketch composed and generated completely in Chuck

I rounded out the year with a self-released EP that I'm very happy with (you can check it out here via bandcamp.)

Your "ANNO EP" is quite good. Mellow yet somewhat disturbing... Currently checking the rest of your stuff smile

Hello everybody!

I just wanted to know whom of you are in the same continent as me (currently the only Spaniard, I'm afraid).

I get a little envious to see several people from US/CANADA, Australia... Will love to meet you all guys, but it's difficult.

I guess it could be great to share with fellow musicians from your area, like what you have in Adelaide, AUS.

Peace and happy WB'2016!

I dropped WB12 (and didn't participate in WB14), and it was due to the workload I had with school at the time. I regret that a lot, so my advice would be to suck it up, and release -something-, even if it's just some random junk you put together in an hour. No-one on the site will judge you for it, and if it's a competition, it's one with yourself.

In this case I feel it's true that something not great is better than nothing at all.

I remember hearing some of your stuff back in 2012, so I'll hope you stick around for a while smile

You said it: this is for you. It's not a competition.

Some thing that helps me is reworking the material I had sitting in my hard drive for a couple of months. Resample/remix yourself with no hesitation.

A lot of times you'll find that "that pointless nanoloop jam" that u thought it sucked gets more comments than "the definitive masterpiece" you were working and reworking for days, so we musicians are not always our best own audience smile

Prepare to be surprised... And man, glad you're here

I built a simple modular synth.

Congratulations!  Impressive work!  Looking forward to hearing it!

Thanks man, although is just the case and the power supply that are DIY. Most modules are still commercial.. But I'm working on some stuff

finally learn some Max For Live

You and me both!  Now that I have access to it...I'd like to do more.

use my recently learnt Chuck skills

Badass!  Looking forward to hearing it. During the last year, I've gotten a bit into Tidal, so that may make an appearance this year.

Maybe more sharing between us (collabs, samples, source code...)

I'd be interested!

You could count on it, Maurice. Hope we share code and algorithms... Tidal sounds pretty interesting for live coding, by the way...

My WB 2k12 was done entirely on the OP-1. It featured heavily in 2k14 too but I added some PD stuff and modular. This year (and last), I am now a "registered composer" at Elektronmusikstudio in Stockholm so I'll be using the Serge and Buchla modulars there from time to time. But there are countless other experiments to be carried out too...most likely many will be featuring the device I have invented (with friends) in my day job...automat.

I remember all those "tape" effects on your OP-1's tracks. Very eager to hear what you get on those modulars.

Impressive work, the Automat. Will it be open source hardware or a public API instead?

Klystrack is free AND open source (an AHX style tracker)

Sunvox is free for all desktop platforms (a buzz style tracker)

I forgot about SunVox, which is also available (paid app) on iOS (and Android, I think)...

Did u tried it on a PDA, back in the day?

I spent 2015 polishing some WB'14 mixes (my Soundcloud lives still in 2014!), rearranging my studio, developing my skills in Chuck musical programming language and learning some Reaktor also.

I built myself a small modular setup and made my first steps in hardware design (still choosing an oscilloscope to buy...). Improved my workflow and got back to some old-school hardware samplers, which I used to create some soundbanks for 2016.

I've got some tracks ready for an EP, my first Bandcamp release: some ambient/drone/berlin-school stuff a little bit far from my usual Boom Bap/Hiphop-esque stuff. Got back to Blender and Processing so I can match the artwork you guys put in your releases.

And, also very important, I kept track of some of my favourite WeeklyBeaters smile

... something i also want to do in 2016 is maybe hopefully listen and respond to more of my peers submissions :X ...

I think that's the key. When I did my first WB back in 2012 I kept it all to myself, with almost no feedback and hardly ever listening to other people's music. When I got back in 2014 I started feeling this more like a community and less like "homework". Truth is I produced some music in 2015, but missed all the great musicians that were a true inspiration throught 2014.

As a personal goal: I want to improve my Reaktor skills, finally learn some Max For Live, use my recently learnt Chuck skills and finally get to use Maschine and Arturia SparkLE.

I've collected some new gear and got rid of some other hardware. I built a simple modular synth. Now I want to put all my software to good use so I could feel I'm getting the most of my current setup.

I think I'll be very interesting to hear other people's work this year. Maybe more sharing between us (collabs, samples, source code...)

Thanks you for your nice work. I'll give it a go with some synth sounds smile

These are my 2 cents, Trash80:

- Milkytracker, a contemporary Fast Tracker II clone available for all major platforms (win,mac,linux... and Android!). It supports the old Amiga MOD format, Impulse Tracker's IT and XM. It's a little bit limited compared to modern things like Renoise (which is excellent and quite affordable, but propietary).

- LittleGPTracker: another tracker with an interface almost identical to LSDJ, but handles WAV samples and decent polyphony. Along with all desktop systems, it runs in the PSP, the GP32, the Dingoo and some other handhelds.

- NitroTracker, a tracker for the Nintendo DS, with no effects, but extremely portable. I use it for sketching some songs on the go

That's what it comes to trackers.

P.S.: The Ardour open source DAW is worth checking, also, but I'm quite unexperienced on it. I've seen some people here using LMMS on Linux (kinda public FLStudio)

Will add some as soon as they come to mind

Cheers!

Hi Guys! Really missed you all

I started messing with my samplers yesterday, and the track is already cookin'

Technical Question:By any chance, is the old site still stored/archived anywhere, so I could back up some notes about some songs I made

... This really really really means a lot to me. I've been waiting for months!!!

Please count me in... I do have a list of all-time WB favourites, although as everybody, I've missed a lot of people's great music
