Life before Weekly Beats?  Eh?

Both my solo release, Silver in Their Veins, and my current band *ask's single Painted Hole/Best Friends can be streamed at scottkellogg.com.  I've also produced, engineered, and played bass on a number of other artists' projects.

Exactly.  I have a weekly gig improvising music for a university dance group.  It's simple to tote the OT into the rehearsal space rather than have to set up a mixer, a synth, etc.  But I totally get doing that, since in a galaxy far far away I used to lug around an RM1x, Nord Modular, Yammy A3000, and a Mackie 1202.

Dukes of the Stratosphear.  And out course my band *ask (askaskask.org).

I'm most productive when I'm using the least amount of gear.  I've got the Elektron boxes, but there's so much to learn and experience with just the Octatrack.  Plus, it's way easier for me to gig with a single box.  Using only a sampler has been a stretch, since my main squeeze has been the Monomachine.  Sample-based compositions create open systems, where any sound is fair game to be Octratrack's next meal.  On the Monomachine, it's a closed ecosystem (at least with mine which doesn't accept user waveforms).  It's amazing how much play one can get out of a single sample.

Comfy chair plus Octatrack.  Soon I shall dominate the universe!

Hurried sample manglination.  Spend more time listening to scratchy vinyl than making beats smile

Roll your own sounds!  Even the built in mic on a laptop or phone is cool.

I looked at the light.  Gulp.

I was busy busy busy this week and didn't have much time to devote to WB.  Fortunately I was busy with cool stuff and recorded 4 tracks with my band *ask and performed 6 times in a 400 seat theater.   There were even people in the theater for 2 of those nights smile

What a trip.  I've already 3 of the 4 references in my library.  I'll check out the Postmodern magick book.  I wonder if it's anything like Chaos Magick.  That book was pretty cool.  I don't do ritual in any formal sense, but I do meditate and focus intention when I'm working.  I often pull one tarot card and use that as a signpost for the energy of a particular part, pattern, or piece.

spry, please give me a few references so I can understand what you are talking about.  I have a background in Hermetic studies.
