I am also in a position similar to e.s.c's one and I would also add that, even though I play with electronic music since some time now, chipmusic is quite new to me and I dare take advantage of Weekly Beats to improve this aspect in my music.

It was a bit chaotic for me as I had to try several times to find a good idea. I ended up with something that I didn't expect to create in the first place. I appreciate the unexpected result and this is thanks to this time constraint. No shame of releasing a track done in a week (actually less than a day) because that's the purpose of the whole thing!

Would be nice to have a number of plays for each track so that I know whether people didn't comment or just didn't listen tongue

I'm re-reading the manual of my TNR-O.

I do have some blocks this week and indeed I think I'll get into something less melodic and more rhytmic. Or at least I'll play with effects to create an ambience.
Today I also visited Wikipedia about chord progressions, I'll try some when back from work and will try to derive some melody out of it.
If you can't find inspiration, stick to rational procedure until it comes to you (I hope it makes sense).

I understand this thread as "whatever you were doing before and however you did it, please do it differently". Phrased that way, I indeed consider Weeklybeats challenge (yes I call it a challenge) also as an opportunity to make the music in a new way but I don't expect to have enough time every week to experiment new stuff.
And actually, chipmusic is quite new for me smile

I'm too lazy to list everything but, on top of my head, I think I'll use mostly my Game Boys with LSDJ and Nanoloop. I have a sammichSID waiting to be assembled and I'd like also to start using my Tenori-on in tracks. On the software side, Reason and Cool Edit should be my main tools.

My first track is for now LSDJ only and yet to be properly recorded but I'm still wondering if I should take some more time to add non-chip material to the mix...

I'm joining this challenge mainly to raise motivation but also to help me finish tracks as I tend to never complete any of them and they finish stranded on a hard-drive. Also I'd like the results to be usable material for game soundtracks as I'd like to dig myself a bit more seriously into game development this year. For the last reason, I think my tunes will sound more ambient and targeted for being looped. But don't get me wrong, this is not a limitation, just a guideline for me in case I lose inspiration!
Cheers

Please count me in!
