Just stumbled across this! Something I should have done long ago but happy to start now big_smile

After all Weeklybeats has been a more consistent presence in my life over the last decade than most of the other things I've tried my hand at.

The past few years I have given myself an additional challenge on top of the weekly upload and this year I am going to choose something different to challenge myself with.

In the past I have done the song within an hour, streamlined the workflow to a single session and this year I want to bring back some of what I had to let go of to make those songs so quickly.

This year I will be using at least one recorded audio element in each song! I'm hoping to ween myself off these midi instruments a bit :-X

I suppose I actually did accomplish this. Neat.

I used my MS2000 for most of the tracks but I did end up branching out a bit with my sound source. Over the course of the year in addition to my synth I used live guitar, melodica, tambura, rhythm samples, field recording and my own voice. I believe I included some audio sourced element in every track this year and I learned quite a bit about incorporating audio into my workflow. I'm not nearly as intimidated by using and cleaning up audio sources as I used to be. I'd say mission accomplished smile

Much love to everyone in the WB community! heart I know we don't always have the time to interact and listen to all of each others music but I feel like we share something unique and special here even so heart

when should we contact Trash80?

If you or anyone else is acquainted with him or any of the other mods, can we reach out? big_smile

aaayyyy yo we doin this?

So I can only assume that as per tradition and ceremony, weeklybeats will be taking a break in 2019.  As such are there any plans for another round in 2020? big_smile big_smile

This project has been an inspiration to me over the years.  I have been very fortunate to have been able to participate and push myself to completing the year for 4 runs now and I would maybe like to look forward to doing it again if my life circumstances will allow it once more.  Maybe some of you feel the same?

It might also be nice to promote it somehow ahead of the start of next term because I know it could offer a lot to musicians everywhere.  Just some thoughts on what has been a really positive experience in my life for 7 now going on 8 years.

Huge thanks to the mods and webmasters of the site for making this happen!  ^^'

Cheers to another 52 tracks!  What a fruitful and interesting year XD  I can't believe this is the 4th time I've done this!

neat!  i wonder if we came out on top this year ahead of the rest for total numbers!

stoked!

it is perhaps too much for me to ask, but this thread was super cool in 2014.  a wb16 stats thread would interest me but i do not have the mad skillz.
