How about everybody attempts a genre they've never tried before? Could be anything, like reggae, rap, or celtic bagpipe anthems. The idea would just be to try something new and unexpected

I don't know if anybody here has a taste for indie pop/rock, but if you do, the new Bombay Bicycle Club album ("So Long, See You Tomorrow") is pretty dang good.

How about instead of specifying "reversed samples" we just make the theme something like "retrograde", and you can interperet that however you want, within the idea of "something happens both forwards and backwards", whether it's samples, or a melody, or a song form, or all of the above

I agree with this. I think we can probably count all ideas on the vein as votes for it then.

The one that confuses me is "the straw that broke the camel's back". I mean, chances are that a load that heavy would've slid off the camel's back to the side. It at least would've broken the camel's legs. And, if the load on that camel is so heavy that it has 4 broken legs, motionless on the ground, waiting for a straw to break its back, then, there are several problems. The load is useless on the back of the camel as there is no way that the camel can move it. If there is that little difference between the breaking of the camel's back, then who cares about the straw, the camel probably would've broken it himself. If there is that much weight on the camel's back, chances are that his ribs and internal organs are crushed, and he is already dead, meaning that the straw is just superfluous. That one is just stupid in my opinion.
Also, supporting camel cruelty is wrong.

Be a high school student and never get homework. This strategy works quite well for me, and I highly recommend to all WB'ers who own time machines.

Suggested this a few weeks back, but I'll bring it back because I like the idea: Reversed Samples

+1 for yodeling. Yodel jam week. Yes.

Sure, as long as nobody else wants to do it

Just to clarify, I definitely don't have time for this. So, just disregard this previous statement by me.

Perhaps all of these things should be combined? Soundcloud (for listening and deciding if you want to participate), midi download (somebody said via dropbox), and an image of the melody on something like FL's piano roll?

What I did to listen to the song is pause it immediately and click on the progress bar to like 5 seconds in. The song then played just fine.

I figured we could just post the basic tune by itself onto Soundcloud. Soundcloud doesn't make you worry about licensing, does it? Or, if it does, there'd be an option for no licensing restrictions, wouldn't there be?

One person write a melody, everybody can include this same melody in any way they want to in their song. This was originally talked about here

Most recently,
CHVRCHES' "The Bones of What You Believe" (https://soundcloud.com/chvrches/recover 2013, Indie Electronic)
Typhoon's "White Lighter" (https://soundcloud.com/rollcallrecords/ … -fathers-1 2013, Indie Folk)
Cage the Elephant's "Melophobia" (https://soundcloud.com/cagetheelephant/ … tle-closer 2013, Indie Rock).
Right now I'm on the lookout for some good indie-scene stuff that I haven't heard before.
Also, the song "Put A Light On" by Generationals (https://soundcloud.com/polyvinyl-record … a-light-on), it's really good
