So, just to clarify, the theme IS optional, right? 
It's just a neat little aspect you can choose to apply to your track?
I'm just curious because 'theme' isn't mentioned anywhere else on the site except these forums.

In musical theory, there is no difference between A0, A1, A2, A3, A4 etc. It's called octave equivalence. For my $0.02, I'd say that you can use the same four notes in any register.
