cat's cradle song (for Grayson)

By fetalface on July 14, 2024 8:16 pm

Feat. Surfer Dwight
Song by Grandma Freund

We recently had to say goodbye to our dearly beloved cat, Grayson, so it was sad to record this track without him being there to enjoy the nyuk-ing and chuk-ing firsthand. However, he had a good life full of nyuks, chuks, and many other delights. Nyuk your cat today if you're reading this!

Lyrics:
Nyuk a chuk a chuk a nyuk chuk chuk
Nyuk a chuk a nyuk chuk chuk
Nyuk chuk chuk chuk chuk
Nyuk chuk chuk chuk chuk
Nyuk a chuk a chuk a nyuk chuk chuk

nyuk a chuk chuk to you too! such fun joyful music big_smile

This is the cat-dandling song handed down from generation to generation in my family, traditionally sung while holding a beloved cat and gently bouncing it up and down to the beat of the music. Occasionally, this was the prelude to a larger ritual of using the cat to wave goodbye to a family member departing for their daily work or other remote occupation.

Also, whoops sorry about the distortion! this one was made & uploaded in a hurry too and I didn't have time to listen back to the mp3 and I still haven't utilized that volume meter tool Orangedrink told me about. La-Z-boi

This was delightful chaos. Wasn't expecting electronic music...and then huge grin when the vocals came in (and when they eventually just broke down at the end LOL)

So sorry about your kitty! I shall nyuk my kid's cats in his honor. (What is it about cats that generate a million nicknames and odd catchphrases? I still occasionally talk in "the Foos voice", which always made my big boy come running.)

Thank you. There's a version without embarrasing distortion on my bandcamp in case you want to chuk along without disturbing your kid's cats' hearing.

Hm, I think cats are people too, only better.
RIP Foos! Your memory is a blessing

You didn't miss anything, jwh! I totally snuck that comment in there long after you two made yours. It *is* a joyful song, our dear Grayson Trent Longleggy had a good life, we miss him, and I greatly appreciate your condolences. Here's a photo of Grayson at a moment when he was possessed by the catnip demon.

Here he is in a more relaxed mood

heart heart heart

Just wonderful. All my furball family's love to you and yours. A great way to remember a furry friend smile
