W34 - Foggy Dunes

By ENC_ on August 25, 2024 8:29 pm

Long talk with therapist about unresolved resentment vs. emotional relief over future care taking, happy for VTC's well being, and changing career. Dating Anniversary with AL to Santa Cruz. Woke early to bike. Tea house, beach boardwalk, strolling shops. Long drives and pleasant talking. Picked up new records. Discussed VTC in car, getting married (need license), and life. Took AL to docotor's appointment, went to comic shops, scifi bookshop, and visited old work while leaving. Met with usual local friends. Highly enjoying reading new Book. Wrote Poem thinking of fading. Rode bikes to farmer's market, stopped by AL's parents. Jenga updates and soup, then rode to park. Sat and talked about future, money, and plans. Good Week. Reached out to cousins starting college. AL Fozzie Bear. DO no traction or word from others.

Used old NL project from eariler this year. Chords matched mental space and imagery. Wrote out first section from NL, Rended stems. Cut and processed Stems for M8 usage in Ableton. Replaced kick. Used M8 to compose and write new parts. Earlier in the week created modular E.drums for DO. Probably wont be used. Repurposed. Added s-1 and 303 for variation and to have a more live input to tweek. Recorded in one take in 2 channel stereo. Audio Chain 303>s-1>M8>Dr-40. Midi Chain M8>S-1>303. Recording taken to Ableton. Minor effect at end and single layer of phone recording Stretched and effected. Voice message with AL. Lazy master and render. Thought about driving through SC with fog and trees and beach sand.

File names: "W34 - Foggy Dunes" and "DO - Modular Drums" Ableton, "Dunefog" ("spinSamp" OG) NL, "DUNE_FOG" M8,

everything about this is awesome

love the journal entry and poem

i can kind of see this as a montage of what you've been through in the week

I do LOVE when the acid drops. It gives a very trippy, introspective feel to an already excellent IDM track. Sounds quite electro to my ears... labels aside, this one rocks really hard

Love a nice day in Santa Cruz smile I could float away on those chords but the beat is just the perfect amount of energetic for me.

listened once through (very nice)

then listened again while reading the poem (extra nice)

"The last artifacts"
"Evidential decay."

really striking. thank you, ENC_

Busy week, chill song
