W25 - Untitled Piano Sessions

Cleaned house to try and help with restoring it to some level of dignity. Long days with Alphonse. He needs help to get around parts of the house. Carried him at some points when walking and climbing stairs seemed painful. Talked with brother and his wife about their honeymoon. Decided to end reorganization to have more time for myself. Ended up doing very little outside of duties on those days. Stayed in alone.

The twigs in the ground are now towering trees. Roads I walked in direct sun now cover in shade. Empty lots filled. Those that originally planted the seed of the place left with their money elsewhere. An inverted gentrification almost. Quiet, heat, aging neighbors with failing bodies. Favorite childhood Chinese food. Owner thinking of retiring. 33 years of work. Managing and hosting. Remembering her in-law's daughter after kumon riding elevators. From 8 or 9 to 40. Met Silvia again on walk. Sorted SS card and Met with Randal for finacial planning. Road bike at night with things cooled from the +100˚F days. Trying to continue enjoying the sun and quiet. Partner picked up up Foundation books at a library sale for me heart

Unplanned tinkering with piano all week 5 -10 minutes at a time spastically. These 2 are not the best takes, sessions or "songs" but they were part of the one session I recorded. More as evidence then anything else. Picking chords and parts as feels right. Rare I have private access to a real piano anymore. Taking advantage of it while I can. My ability on piano has diminished over years of neglect and without opportunities. Music theory knowledge expanded.

I listened to your sessions before reading your comments and thought that sounded like an acoustic upright piano. I learned to play on an old one that now sits in my brother's farm house.  My uncle gave me his old Baldwin studio grand when he downsized many years ago. I do all my recording on a Kawai ES8 or using VSTs, but now I just might try a couple sessions on the real thing (even though it squeaks and moans). Your two songs are evocative and contemplative. If found myself staring out the window lost in thought while listening.  Well check out more of your works.

Won't say no to some piano.

Nice chords, nice snapshot of your life with the text attached to the track too.

Take care!

Good ears, I haven't had access to a grand ever so I'd probably have a hard time distinguishing especially with how low quality my recording was. My brother was the one who learned piano. The piano in the recording is the one my parents got for him to practice on. My journey to music was a pretty DIY venture mostly focused on recording so I never truly learned to play unfortunately. I know what keys correspond to what notes and have picked up some basic understanding through observation and tinkering but It's a lot of guessing and experimenting for me.

I am quite envious of your playing. You make it seem effortless.

Def makes me miss having an old upright in the house.  Some lovely somber chords that take you away.  Thank you for the Dorian  Dumont recommendation.  Totally didn't know he did such cool covers.  Icct Hedral ohhhh yais.
