W10 - POWx10

Last week I mentioned I have been prepping for a show on the 22nd. It's an annual GDC after-party event I have been involved with for a long time now. I put together this new track with my live rig for the show and WB. This is a live recording of the new song I did while practicing. The event has been announced so I'll share the flyer and info in the link below. This is the first time I will be taking this setup on stage and most of the material has not been performed live before. It will probably be streamed if anyone wants to check it out.

The plan is to try and record the set too to upload to youtube later and maybe here if I write anything new.

This song is made using both generative and preprogrammed elements. Most of the set has been built that way to give my sequences a unique experience for listeners each time but a familiar enough experience that they can follow along.

Gear Used:
Dirtywave M8 (handles sequencing and most of the sounds)
Elektron Octatrack (Mixing, EFX)
Elektron Model:Cycles (Drum machine and extra noise to play)
DSI Tetra (additional poly synth support for m8 tracks)
Analog Heat (warming summed tracks, Master eq,and LP filtering)
Tascam DR-40 (recording)
Kola Sampler (recorded and synthesized percussion used in m8)
Drum Machine collection (606, Rytm, etc. sampled and used in m8)

Update: I have a full video for the show up now. It was lovely to play with nullsleep, janus rose, space town, and everyone else heart

like a menacing dream, so good!

Damn, what a mood this is!  Insta-favorite heart

For some reason, I can't open (or even select the text of) that URL from iOS, but I'll check it out from a desktop later—would love to catch the live stream of that performance.

(Koala + M8 sounds brilliant, must try that in a future WB.)

Sounds like you're ready for it.

Thanks for the kind words smile

The live stream should be hosted on the venue's website. They have a 24/7 stream going all the time.

It's been a while since I regularly used BBCode on an old-school forum setup. I updated the link so it should work now.

heart Thanx. It's a new setup and I don't play live as often as I used to so I am a bit anxious TBH. The positive feedback is good to hear.

Hi, reading this from the future (Week 12). Please upload that link smile

It would be wonderful to see that setup in detail. This sounds really fantastic, indeed.

Sounds like an intrincate production chain... but you made it sound easy

You got it. https://youtu.be/K1xJyxxgsA4

The chain is pretty simple. octatrack works as a mixer and effects processor for M8, tetra, and Cycles. Analog Heat takes the octrack's signal and warms it up at the end of the chain. M8 does most of the heavy lifting as it sends the clock to all devices and most of the sounds are generated in M8.

I might put together a video on the rig. I got a lot questions at the show too tongue
