W11 - 3_13_26 SecondGo

Squeezed out a couple of extra practices w/ Delorean Overdrive and Mana before POW. A lot of commuting and coordination. Needed more sleep. Tried being more active in my stress management to keep avoid health problems. Easy to operate like I did when I was younger. Body can't keep up. Bodily monitoring is difficult when taught to ignore. Trying to implement lessons learned. Many discussions on creativity, communication, art, society, and culture. Still meditating on the thought that in the west, STEM is implemented separately from culture like it is one or the other. Also, art is in doing and abstract embedment of self through the practice, not in the results. Also, authenticity of character derived from wielding of abstractions of communication and everything step between communicator and receiver.

Went to POW on Thursday and had another good year w/ friends and artists a like. Drove friends home. Played on Saturday, talked with friends from out of town and other musicians (Zaku, Gesceap, cheap dinosuar, silva gunner memeber, etc). AL helped run merch. Went well enough. Sold out nights. Help load out w/ D&T. left at 3am both nights. Woke up on Sat. for drive to MT's home up north. Stayed the weekend w/ excellent friends (CK, DN, EF, ?) and AL. Wine, scene organizing, music, movies, life reflection and relaxing in a nice place. Dinner on return w/ T&K, L,R,& P, and AL. Shared news of new friends. piles of tet snappers at door step. walked home w/ AL.

Media Consumed: Sleep Away Camp 1983, Tim Hecker - No Highs, River Tiber - Dreaming eyes, Louis Cole, The Prodigy - The Day is my enemey, Stazma - Fluorhydrique, The Junglechrist - Madness,

Gear Used:
Elektron Syntakt
Tascam DR-40

Software used:
Izotope Ozone 10

Second try with the new update to Syntakt. This one came out better but, rushed at the end for being short on time. Largely exploring. Work has been feeling less bombastic lately. Found groove with more abstract explorations. Would go back to extend. Tried to shift keys and scales in the song. Would like a third shift at the end to a more wonder inspiring scale.

Second song made at MT's house.

Man, I absolutely love the drum work throughout this. So fucking sick.

Have a good week, ENC!

That pulse synth is taking me back. Love this and how it slowly comes together and congeals. The synth mallet instrument too is excellent. West-coasty.

is this basically all the syntakt?

single device?

love it, fav

Very fun, I had a great time listening!

Love when the lil acid line comes in over those soft pads.  The drums are excellent as always and such a nice mix overall especially on those lil percussive bits.  Nice work!

we've fallen out of the raft into the rapids, everything goes quiet. this is the moment, we either panic and go under
or,,,

Damn dude jammin this out with all that goin’ on?! You some kinda madman for sure. Love love LOVE the detuned pads at 1:45! Sick track

I love how even with your constraints you manage to make a whole sonic journey out of your tracks

it's like i can feel you fighting the drowsy to keep going
wishing you rest

I glad you enjoyed them, I described it as "experimenting with too many kick drums", to a friend tongue

Yeah! It's an interesting machine to work with. The digital sound creation is built around simple FM parameters set to a certain sets of ranges and configurations to make imitating particular sounds fast. It can seem a bit on rails at first but, ends up being fun pushing the edges of the those simplified settings. It's rare to get a bad sound making it easy it quick to dial in and work with.

I am much happier w/ the mix compared to the previous week smile I think maybe the next steps for me is to work on my varying my composition style up. Production is always easier for me to invest in. Music theory is harder to wrap my head around. I feel like I've been "bike shedding" a bit.

Accurate metaphor. I've been feeling like I have been hunting for direction this year. I think my songs have been reflecting that abstraction. First steps are hard for me. They are overwhelming even. I've been fighting with that for a while now. Trying to keep calm but, a bit desperate for directional clarity and clear creative goals. It's hard not to give in to some of my less helpful habits. Hoping to find enough solid footing break that personal cycle.

heart I hanging in there tongue Just barely but, it's happening. The detuned pads were a new experiment with the Sytakt. IDK why but I have never thought to use the analog voices to do the chord work. I usually use a digital voices for some reason.

Haha aw thank you. TBH I think this one was lucky as my experimenting led me to a direction. That doesn't always happen especially when I  short on time. The novelty of playing with the Syntakt's new abilities from the update made things easier to get into.

Accurate! I am paying for it with sinus infection now tongue Luckily, I am catching up on sleep and can have a b it of rest. It's been a real sprint. Not sure I could keep it up forever.
