The Things We Know

By Dyrt Dyzyrt on March 14, 2026 8:41 pm

This week, we have both kinds of music: Country AND Western!

PLUS for this one I was lucky enough to collaborate with my good friend and band mate, Matt! Check out his Weekly Beats page bat_matt and show him some love! Matt played rhythm and lead guitar and sang some really great backup vocals on this track. I could not have made this song sound this good without his help!

When I was thinking of lyrics for this song I was trying to riff off the betrayed lover's revenge country song trope. It's maybe not firmly in the realm of country, but it's certainly a lot more country/folk than any of my other stuff. I had a lot of fun with this one!

Thanks for listening!

PS I would encourage you to wait and read the lyrics after you've listened to the song. Parental advisory: there is swearing in this one.

Wow! Really beautiful vocal work from both of you. Really inspiring! I was always a fan of both kinds of music!

Wow, this sounds fantastic. Lead vocals are amazing, and I love the background vocals as well. Great instrument mix, love the mandolin. Also, loved how things escaped with the car. Awesome.

This sounds like roots music, or outlaw country, and I’m here for it. Favorited.

Also, peak Blues Brothers reference smile

“Escaped” with the car? Dammit Siri. Escalated.

I love that this almost feel's like I'm there in the room, just jamming out with you guys and having a good time. Great work on the "athomosphere" of it all!

Good story telling as well. It might be a "tropey", but it only became a trope because it's damn good and usually works. And you for sure made it work!

Lovely chord progression and sound throughout that makes me feel like I'm sitting at a campfire with friends.  Well done!

If more country music was like this I would listen to it. Holy cats. Great vocals and lyrics.

A blues brother's reference?! Country and Western?!? Incredible!

Holy Moly! You sound incredible!!

Your voice is so unbelievably heartbreakingly nostalgic and beautiful!

I feel uplifted!! Incredible track!!

Thank you all so much for the kind words about this song! I really appreciate it, and it's definitely given me a confidence boost regarding my voice.
I never considered myself much of a singer until recently, and I've been learning and exploring what I can do vocally a lot more lately. Maybe I need to write more heartbroken country/folk songs. I certainly didn't expect that to be my wheelhouse! Haha!

Lovely little revenge tale. The melody feels like an classic folk song, and your vocal delivery has power and some genre-savvy throatiness. Really like the harmonies in the second version, love the guitar line in the third verse snaking around the vocals, love the perspective swaps in Matt's harmonies ("What the fuck?"). Would love to hear something else from you in this mode

WOWWWWWWW totally late to this but holy moly this is an epic tale!

Great job all around!

Love the splitting up the phrase

"Darling it's not
Not hard to let
Let go of you"

That was really good.  Excellent swearing (lol i'm a fan of your swearing idk)  Matt's wtf was soooo funny, rewound that 2x to hear it

WOOOOOOOOOO!

Great job, Matt!

Whatever it is, it's a very solid performance. And brutal, too.
