waiting

By emily on July 17, 2022 3:45 pm

'the act of staying in one place or remaining inactive in expectation of something'

are we just waiting...
for the world to stop?

i don’t know how to be in this world anymore
i don’t know how to be

for a moment it was quiet
and the world stood still

*thank you jwh for adding beautiful basslines, additional guitar bits, and gorgeous vocal harmonies, & who asked the question "are we just waiting for the world to stop?"

“And grief still feels like fear. Perhaps, more importantly, like suspense. Or like waiting; just hanging about waiting for something to happen.” ― C.S. Lewis

"the virus remains a public health emergency of international concern"
"public health is a collective endeavor"

and so "i wait"

in the space of "a lot of confusion and worry"

Ooof! Those vocal harmonies are killer.  The bassline is super catchy and is an instant head nodder.  Those guitar lines too.. You guys are an awesome combo! smile  PS. I too do not know how to be...

i clicked your link on the 'virus remains...', but now that the track is finished, still can't bother watching because while listening to the track, i was just so filled with this uplifting feeling from the melody and the lush atmosphere of the track, i can't allow it to end. it's like the lyrics are pensive and almost a bit on the darker side, but still this waiting is a kind of waiting that involves fierce hope... as if this track makes a sound that resonates positivity throughout my not knowing how to be smile

Oh, this is a real beautiful sad track, offering magnificent melodies, nice instrumentation and painful lyrics. love your vocal performance a lot in here.

Heavy track. Heavy beat. Heavy lyrics. I feel hope in the beautiful harmonies, especially where the backing vocals swell at 1:45. Excellent arrangement and vocal production.

The vocals are great on this.  I like how they sound really up front in the mix and those harmonies are perfection.  Nice instrumentation all around.

beautiful composition. we don't have to know how to be we just be! but it's hard sometimes for sure

Beautiful "pop" song. Really like the bassline. Nice synths as well.Your vocals are spot on. I really enjoyed that.

Cool song!

(I love your singing and how present the voice is in this! Thank you thank you thank you!)

You have the best music for the times we live in: there’s hope and pain and melancholy and beauty and darkness all at once and I think that is spot on for the last couple of years and the current state of affairs. (I’ve not peeped the links yet due to work being overwhelming at present, but the first one in particular I’ve been thinking about / talking to my partner about a fair amount lately…)

you're welcome & thank you for challenging my vocal mixes... i wanted to turn it down & asked if josh liked it and he said yes so i thought - ok there may still be some weird effects but i'll keep it loud in the mix for ilzxc... i kept one track clean for you... (but then tripled the vocal mix with weird sounds)

thank you also for hearing the everything all at once

feelin' a bit lost in wonderland theses days...  hope your work load lightens soon!

There's no need to remain inactive while waiting, I could vibe to this song
- Ebrit

So many great guitar tracks in week 28 but the vocals, harmonies, and bendy interstitial guitar vamps add so much polish and atmosphere to this one.  It's a beautiful song, with lyrics that will wipe the smile off your face as they start to sink in.

trying to find the joy in the sad right now and sit with it all

Wow, this just puts me in a good relaxed state. Love the vocals and lyrics. How do we be, we may never know so will just be here now I suppose. Holy moly pedal steel slide guitar, that's tasty. I like this sound. A mix of things that are good, and make a thing that is good.

the repeating guitar sound was a stock loop - i wish we had a a pedal steel around - that slide stuff is all joshy guitar skills... i was so excited when i heard that part - instant smiles smile

i understand about the links - though i think you would like the "i wait" one  - it is a Gaelynn Lea song - she's fantastic and pulls no punches but she does it with grace and kindness

Really digging the collabs you two are doing. So good!
