the heat of summer's winding down

A song that relates much with the area you come from I guess. It has good drive. I can imagine gigantic fields of corn in your neighborhood and you are driving on a bike in the sunset on endless roads, just feeling freedom and the breeze of the wind. the crickets mournfully know their time is over and mankind will have the corn. A tragedy of injustice. Wow.
Also want to mention jwh with the terrific bass and your beautiful strings in the mix. Bravo.
What a summmer vibe! Love when the piano and strings come in around 1min, takes it to another level.
Beautiful and stirring! Wonderful, otherworldly melody that you do so well, and each progressive addition makes this more thrilling. Perfect for almost-harvest-time!
The instrumentation has kind of a down home hoedown feel or something to me that meshes surprisingly well with the angelic ethereal vocals. I would instinctually think they would work together, but they really do. Nice one.
nice, love the juxtaposition of the bluegrassy guitar with the plaintive vocals and piano.
This is such a cool fusion of sounds. Your vocals and that bluegrass backdrop pair really well together!
The guitar (and subject matter) made me think of "Corn Does Grow" by Theo Katzman, though the song itself is completely different. Really enjoy how you took this fast guitar/drum part and made something that feels so unique and almost ambient with the vocals. The low strings and piano are just incredible and serve the song so well.
love how the strings, bass and guitar play around the infectious groove of the drums. Maybe it was the gifs but it felt like the the field was coming to life and had visions of an uprising marching down the street to the beat
your vocals carry the melody and give it that extra magical feeling. Had to listen again cuz of that groove. bass stem and cricket-outro appreciated as well.
Okay, I admit that my first listen was mesmerized watching jwh’s dancing corn gif for the entire track. Then I listened again so I could hear all the great musical elements in this without that distraction… lol. Really like the bluesy guitar intro into this and the interplay of the bass, guitar, strings, and xylophone throughout. But what makes this really striking are your long, gliding vocals weaving in and out of all the elements carrying this to a fitting outro of crickets at the dusk of the harvest season.
Like the driving beat behind this and then those strings really bringing up the energy. Your vocals are what really elevate this one with their calmness over the frenetic beats.
Four in the floor, country string quartet, choir of ghosts and spectres. Love it. Gonna go find some big speakers and a corn field now wish me luck!
sorry, this just synced up with the music too perfectly

i love this so much! i wish i did live out where i could ride my bike in the cornfields - we drive through some fields every few weeks to go get eggs from a farm south of town - sadly folks drive very wrecklessly - I'd be scared to drive my bike to that farm off the highway... We have a large amish community nearby & their bikes and buggies are often getting hit by wreckless drivers

I love your ethereal essence but also very much enjoy that you're taking it in a danceable direction! Super cool.

it does grow though the dying season is upon us very soon!
Is that... a marimba... because I'm 100% stealing the banjo marimba combo now... that sounds so good together.
that gif
i think the instruments you are talking about were African King Gyl 01 & 02 in garageband - i'm not sure if it's a marimba, xylophone, etc.
your not stealing that from me - i think this combo might have roots that go way back
though this was an intuitive pairing on my end
i wish i could play withhim & them
