precipice

By emily on January 7, 2024 7:32 pm

hi WB community!

here we go!

the word on my mind for 2024:

precipice /prĕs′ə-pĭs/
noun

An overhanging or extremely steep mass of rock, such as a crag or the face of a cliff.

The brink of a dangerous or disastrous situation.

A headlong fall; an abrupt descent.

A bank or cliff extremely steep, or even perpendicular or overhanging; a headlong declivity.

The brink of a steep declivity; hence, a dangerous place; a critical position; a perilous location.

    A sudden or headlong fall.

A headlong steep; a very steep, perpendicular, or overhanging place; an abrupt declivity; a cliff.

The brink of a dangerous situation.

lyrics:

there is a tear in the hearts of man

standing on

a precipice... indeed

a result of greed

where do we go to be safe?

how do we heal our hearts?

Hey!

Welcome back. smile

Really like the textures there, haunting vocals with nice harmonies.

Really lovely as always emily. What a great start to the year. Glad to see you back here for 2024 and looking forward to hearing what the rest of the year brings. heart

beautiful heart

I did not order a wake-up call but BOY AM I GLAD TO HEAR THIS ONE!
love the bell + crash that come in at 2/3rds and I love your kind heart.
Hugs & hopes for the new year.

Beautiful and hypnotic! I'm glad you're here again!

Happy new year!
The kick drum reminds me of a heart beating. It feels like the track is alive, slowly waking up for 2024. Beautiful vocal harmonies with lush reverb, like the signature of an emily track. I second fetalface - that bell from around 2:00 adds another sound texture to the track and just works so well.

It's great to listen to your tracks in 2024 again!

yeas! very dig the calming and contemplative nature of this one.  Here's to a fun and fancy 2024

welcome back smile i love the way the really industrial sounding percussion builds up and complicates the comfy dream pop mood. such nice vocals too!

ok emily, i am going to do my best not to embarrass you this year...
but let the record show

i am your number 1 fan. no one i would rather stand on a precipice with than you. heart

just amazing. thanks for sharing, definitely made my monday morning better!

The rock doesn’t need to fall this year. Really hoping for all the sane US folk not to have it happen. /me high fives all the anxious people of weekly beats.

Those harmonies!  Great combo of sinister yet still hopeful.  Love the mix and awesome use of instrumentation.

welcome to 2024 glad to hear you back.

lovely and pensive stuff. the send off with bells at the end give a new year/christmassy vibe too

Great to see you back!  Got that precipice feeling this year for sure.  Really great sound to this one and starts the new year off right.

hiii emily!! good to see ur back again!! this song is really pretty i love letting the layers wash over me

Yay! I mean oooh! This is a super calming track with lush vocal harmonies that conjured up . That main repeating arp/ostinato keeps the pacing moving as if something is percolating and starting.  So glad to hear you and jwh in week uno! smile

pardon my caffeine riddled typing.. "lush vocal harmonies that conjured up new beginnings" yikes

also... since the comment system seems to be on vacay.  After just reading your nice comments.   I didn't cast a spell i think it was the sneakywiz_ai smile So happy to see/hear ya both this year. go team dubbayabee!

Beautiful harmonies, very relevant concept and lyrics, great start to 2024 heart

heart heart heart

Dreamy!

Wow, shoegaze on Weekly Beats? That's amazing.

Hi, nice to see you back, happy 2024! Precipice a good word to contemplate indeed. This makes me feel calm, kind of closing the eyes and swaying, a highlight moment of this afternoon. Great sounds in here, nice lyrics and vocal. A background pads in here sounds like could be a voice as well, very cool.

Madame, this is incredible beautiful. Love the touch of goth. I am hungry for more.

This cliff isn't as scary when we're all going over the edge together.

I see the heart being a big focus in 2024 for many to recover and understand better- our own hearts and those of others and what the heart really is for humans

Great voice and melody!

Beautiful! Looking forward to listening to more of your music this year
