there's a little tidy mouse

making piles for later

just in case

there's a little tidy mouse

living in a shed

making piles for later

just in case

oh little mouse

do you tidy for fun?

collecting clothespins, bottle tops, lids, & string

what joy does this bring?

making piles for later

just in case

have your friends joined in the fun?

there's a little tidy mouse

I hoped there'd be another shoegazey tune this week and it's fantastic. I won't go into comparisons with stuff I regularly listen to but let me just say: this is gold. Thanks for sharing!

Aww I saw that headline briefly whilst browsing da nets and was like "what a nice mouse!".  Love the percussive sounds and rhythm in this.  Gives me the feeling of productivity in full effect.  As always such calming peaceful meditative vibes to be enjoyed.  Go team wb!

This song has such a cool arrangement to it. Deep pads contrasted with the light touch on the percussion. I'm liking the cyclical nature of the lyrics as well, and your vocals tie everything together beautifully. Nice work!

Such a nice track, hoarding it for later.

Beautiful song! I listened to it twice in a row. ❤️

The bluegrass sounding loop adds a lot of character to this track. Your voice backed by the ambient synths are a lovely combo too!

This is just fantastic Emily, lovely cozy song. The percussions complement the melody and the voice so perfectly!

I'm really impressed with how you weave all these sounds together along with your voice, the mix is awesome, looking forward to hearing your stuff throughout the year and beyond.

Watch the vicious cats, little mouse.

I really like the sound design on this one.  A nice warm mix of comforting textures.

really enjoyed the felty and peaceful folk vocals -- along with the nicely-layered rhythmic complexities!

Crackling of the fire eating s’mores

Beautiful! Composition, playing, singing, all wonderful! A song worthy of this industrious mouse!

cute, furry and warm

Lovely percussion! Great sounds on all instruments and voice. Love the vocal harmonies. Reminded me of Clarissa Connelly, some kinda nostalgic cottagecore lofi folk.

Hahahah this cracked me up!

hell yea Emily!

I love it!

Nice story, I like this mouse. I like the ukelele? lead. Cool that this is based on a true story of the welsh mouse. Mice get a bad rap. I try to leave them be. My cats are not so nice.

Really enjoy this was nice and easy to listen to mice are so cute and happy to see them getting more love big_smile

figured out why i love your lyrics so much: you're never narcissistic... there's no subject matter where you seem egocentric or it's just Emily's perspective, and if i disagreed with it, Emily might think i was some kind of 'heathen'... it's an interesting effect. i always want the subject matter of your songs to WIN(even if it's not an actual being). and here too, especially with this mouse, it makes me think it's a very smart mouse so it should do really well in life... and yet, life can be so unfair, and i'm glad you don't take this song too far and touch on that as well.
it is making piles for later, YES!, just PILES, just in case... it isn't making plans or scheming for later, for as the saying goes:
“The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.” -Robert Burns
(i DO wonder how many schemes o' mice this Robert Burns had the opportunity to study before coming up with such a saying, i have seen MANY scheming mice do quite well in life... perhaps the saying should be altered to state, "the best quotes of Robert Burns gang aft a-gley"... but i digress...)
the song could've taken a very different direction in that case(piles and piles of string can become quite flammable, after all) big_smile thank you for keeping it positively inspired(the sound design and composition is brilliant too!) heart

love the plucky banjo kinda loop and then was actually really surprised by the pulsing percussion.  very cool.  great vocals as always!

"“O, wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as others see us!" - mr. burns

This is a great track!

This is incredibly adorable, both the song and the mouse
- Ebrit

This made me grin. The instrumentation is such an excellent accompaniment to the gentle inquisitiveness of the vocals and lyrics.

Cute! Sounds so good. Great job!

Love the percussion that slowly layers up in this, but it always holds back and stays reserved.  Super warm banjo (?) sound that hugs from the start.  I'm constantly impressed with people who do vocals in Weekly Beats; for me it's the one thing where I feel the mood has to be just right and you seem to be able to nail it every time heart  Thanks Emily!
