hope springs eternal

By emily on February 4, 2024 7:10 pm

we've been wandering

we've been searching

there's a hope inside of us

there's a place

where we can go

with quiet, and silence, and darkness, and solitude, and starlight

there's a hope inside of us

Pretty! These collabs you've been doing are awesome. Definitely appreciate the message in this one. heart

The backing music gives me a little bit of an old English or Madrigal feel, but the whole thing has a nostalgic and pleasant vibe.  Nice work.

Yeah, it does have a bit of a traditional feel to it, doesn't it?

Nice one!

A bit of a Quaker feel, or maybe a Shaker feel...?

Awesome collab, definitely has an english folk vibe to it that gives it a timelessness.

Midsommar????

Such a pleasing tune.  From the waltzy feel to the hopeful guitar strums I totally had visions of a beautiful spring day with flowers and sun shining through tall trees.  Really enjoyed the panning on the vocal harmonies too smile

Love the Bardcore vibes on the guitar.

The multivoices are a sweet extrabooster for this track. Very beautiful.

A gentle reminder of what I liked on the "Juno" soundtrack.

and the desert so dry and lonely
that the creatures all
appreciate the effort

The part where it sounded like two sets of choruses was glorious

Lovely! I really like all the vocal layering

I like to imagine that your overall weeklybeats process is such a peaceful, life-restoring activity -- in contrast to many of us who view the creating and making the weekly deadline to be more predominantly stressful than anything else.  I hope i'm not wrong in that!  A nice, uplifting and joyful vibe in this here tune

wicked

Ah, this made me feel good. Hope does spring eternal, thanks for this!

There’s a hole inside of us

So deep

Lovely theme and finger cymbals. Tranquil and healing! Thanks for the message

I get a medieval vibe out of the guitar. Mandolin playing in a good old tavern in the 13th century, after a long day in the fields.

Excellent vocal harmonies and I think everything is layered over the bass and guitar parts very nicely. Good work!

Lovely!

this track started with josh sending me those stems - he was inspired by a film soundtrack that he was watching to do a sort of irish sounding tune and i laughed when i heard it wondering if realized he lifted a bit of the gloucester wassail - we celebrate ole twelfie & wassail our fruit tree's in january & josh hears me singing this round that time  of the year - i was a madrigal in high school & he hears me singing and playing this stuff round the house sometimes smile & fetalface - when i was baby i lived in christian hippie commune in isla vista and a lot of the songs they sang sounded very shaker/quaker and were sung in rounds etc. probably like "shape note singing" or "sacred heart singing" - interesting to me that this came out too in this piece - it's all got similar musical roots for sure going way way way way back

josh did ask me why what he wrote sounded familiar - then my challenge was to try and sing something else cause my brain kept trying to sing the wassail song with this smile

i was not happy with the vocals but those were the best takes i could get with the time i had to work on this - my computer was acting up and weird pops kept messing with the vocals so i had to chop them a bit... glad some of you enjoyed them

thank you for listening and all your interesting comments!

awe i wish it were a more peaceful process - sometimes it is but it's often not
often it is filled with tantrums and tears
but i don't want to spoil the illusion - maybe if you keep visualizing that for me it will happen heart
