Fire Thief

Woof. One of those days where nothing is working. Incredibly frustrating. I like the initial idea, but I just didn't spend enough time developing it. By the time I got it recorded, the deadline was beating down my door. Or so I thought. I forgot about daylight saving time, realized I still had an hour, and took another shot. Then my mixer module took a shit. Like, just now. Angry, frustrated, defeated. The mixing is ROUGH and the song is just too long. Every section should have been cut in half. I think I actually hate this track.

Positives: I'm grasping Tides. I'm figuring out that less is more when it comes to Saevitum (tube distortion/filter/VCA). Not using Boog on bass meant really leaning into sound sculpting with Deckard's Voice. Shoutout to envelope followers.

There may or may not be a video when this goes live but there will be one very soon.

Edit:

that all sounded very frustraiting - still proud of you for getting this out

i think it's rad

the sound design is super dynamic and sounds amazing on my crappy laptop speakers

thankfully i, an enthusiastic listener, no NOT hate this track.
that kick makes my head go all wobbly, and i dig the spindly winding synth lines.
hope you are able to get the mixer module sorted!

Sorry to hear about the mixing module that sucks.  This track has an excellent dark and sinister vibe to it with those thick faded synth chords.  Gave me some Massive Attack feels with an excellent gritty outro too.  Glad you released this head nodder!

It sounds like you went through a lot to get this track out, I'm impressed that you committed and still got it out in time!
I think there's plenty of wonderful things in this track. It has a sinister, brooding, slow-burn atmosphere that I very much enjoyed. Those synth riffs are very catchy. The kick ducking adds a great effect to it.

I can understand why you feel strongly about this piece, but I hope in the future you can come back to it and find new appreciation for it. There's a lot of good in this track!
