Grey day

By drmindflip on January 22, 2014 12:00 am

Hi everyone - one month down! Another 11th hour vocal take here, so rather rough to say the least, but I'm very happy to have pulled together another new song. Thanks for all the terrific comments - hope y'all enjoy it smile

Grey day:

It doesn't matter where you go
Doesn't matter what you see in me
Doesn't matter what you say
It's a grey day to me
The walls laugh at omens past
That silly bastard misery
Is out of tricks but for his last
Throws a grey day at me

The mood slides, you stay inside
Your mind churns as day turns to night
And a city of pages lures you in
Well-thumbed amber places welcome you with a grin
You know it's been ages since you've had a drink
Meander and come upon your dusty friends
We'll speak again with hollow souls
The couch swallows you whole

Regurgitated and new
A spectral assembly dance all around you
A surge of red, green and blue
The spectrum resembles the somersault world you knew
When you rubbed your eyes as a child
Son of all things wild
You won't grow today, so there's just no way
You'll know a grey day

Holy sheeeeet ... best Beat yet! Those sexy chord progressions are deserving of a symphony orchestra ... and I love the wandering, lost feel of that middle section!

Dude................

^^ literally have no words....

i really like the piano, it reminds me all at once of billy joel, fiona apple and muse a bit, even a bit of queen smile  really cool progression.  I'm glad we both got our second chance this week!  I also like the chord progression towards the end as it rises with your vocals, well done!

Hey... this is pretty darn cool for a weeks work! Looking forward to your future tracks.

this is great, it feels like listening to a male version of Tori Amos

Yet another hit! This track has so much caracter with only piano and voice, you've really got something going there. Well done!

You have a great sense of structure. That only matters if what you are structuring is good, and in your case its great! Awesome melodies. Keep it up.

Seriously, thanks a million everyone. All your encouragement couldn't be coming at a better time for me - really appreciate it!
