What are you waiting for!

By djippy on January 18, 2026 2:57 am

Did go with the Baritone Squier Stratocaster again this week (It is a normal scaled 25,5'' Stratocaster with 13-56 strings on it, tuned in B). Wanted to go for "riffy" rock... Nothing too complicated (I cannot go there much anyway)

Recorded a couple variations of the main riff, did loop it and recorded acoustic drum next.

On another session I was able to find a structure for the song, did add some harmonization...

Added a quick vocal line (using cheap gaming headset microphone, who cares!!!)

Wanted to add a bass line, did record that this Saturday's evening. Not a fan of the result (notes itself, lines, I would have like the bass going a bit more somewhere else than guitar, but this is what it is) I like the sound of it...

Lyrics:

Hey!
What are you looking for.
Hey!
What are you waiting for!

bis...

Did swap the snare this week for the little Oriollo Phantom (on the right) that is basically a Ludwig Acrolite clone and a very lively and fun snare.

On the "fitness" side, not too bad again, about 6h30 of cardio this week. Body weight is going slightly down still at about 199lbs - 90kg... It is not easy to keep doing it, but energy is not too bad and results are there so let's GO. Not waiting anymore. I am actually getting in better shape and will try to keep consistency.

Yeah a quick garage rock session, always welcome! I like these stoner like riffs.

Heya Djippy,

Congrats on a week of healthy choices and music making. Let GO!

Yessss this is great! I need to come to the garage

Dig the vibes, the bass and vocal tones, man.

Sometimes the gaming headset mic is exactly the vibe, apparently.

Nice one

hell yais! \m/ loving the groove between everything and the grungy vibes.  sounds great!

Go musclor go!

That guitar sounds amazing. Great vocals! So good!

i need to find some time to work out as well instead of sitting on my ass for work, watching tv, playing games or making music!

super groovy track and love that little 8 note riff.

The real instruments are so impressive, it's a world that I've barely tapped into. Love how rhythmic this tune is. Great job on the exercise bruz, keep it up!

Always dig the raw garagey vibe.  Great tone on the guitar.

That baritone strat is killer. Impressive rack of snares and headstocks! Couldn’t hear the bass super well, like what I could hear but I see what you mean about more movement. The gaming vox work! I feel like you can make any mic work with the right processing these days. Drake did a track on an iPhone mic recently IIRC.

I missed the W1 cardio resolution. Love tying that in to the cadence of WB. You on Strava? Happy to cheer ya on there too.

I love low tuned guitars, so crunchy and fat. Love the raw vibe of everything.

Yeah, if it works, it works and buried into distortion, any mic can work wink
Thanks!

Yeah, time is there, you just need to take it... Not very fun, but being more healthy is. Thanks a lot for the kind words about the track.

Thank you so much for the encouragements. Yeah, it is a lot of fun to move air and record those vibrations. I like to work with sampled instruments too, but it is not the same... smile

Yeah I am super fortunate to have access to multiple cool toys. I do have a Strava account, but I don't know why but my Chinese cyclometer app Coospo doesn't always sync ok with it... Most of my indoor trainer sessions does. Anyways you can try to find djippy there...

Thanks a lot all!

The main riff is really cool with a nice beat, this song is right on the border of being a stoner/sludge metal tune if those guitars were super fuzzed out. Stuff like Windhand or Weedpecker. I dig. It's cool to see your collection of snares too!

And congrats on the cardio and lifestyle change! I've always been in and out of living healthy, but you do get so much more energy when you're keeping active every day. I'll be cheering you on!

I like this!
Would love to hear the guitars overdriven more. I think it would sound really good even heavier.

I was waiting for a certain shade of green, but, this, I like this too!
Great guitar riff!

that riff is really cool! i think the bass fits in nice and just compliments everything else going on tbh. the fuzzy tones are awesome though!

you know i love that baritone! the main riff is really catchy and i think the lofi vocals fits great w/ this vibe
\m/

I know you were talking about the sound of it, but it looks pretty cool too!!!

Green as a tube screamer in front? I don't even have any external pedal in front of my little amp... Thanks for the kind word, loved your jwh I like to party remix... smile

Yeah, I could try that! Stack a couple of drives as inserts... Who knows, I might re-visit a mix at some point. I feel I did overcompress the drums as well, but HEY! A track is a track!

Yeah, it is a long journey (the fitness one...) I am something like 3 months in, pretty into it excepts for the holidays break where I took a week off and of course I do see a lot of benifits, but probably not as much as you would hope... I know there are good improvements, I have more energy, but still too much fat (it really ain't that bad) and not much more muscles...

Kind comments are super appreciated, I might try to come back at it and add a more aggressive drive on the guitars since you were a couple talking about it.

Rock!

heart nice and raw. Currently looking for a late night snack and waiting to see if my craving will go away tongue

Nihilistic vibes, in a good way. Energy reminds me a bit of "where is my mind"

I miss having a jam garage sad maybe one day...I love the simple lyrics and the last minute of this track slaps.

Best of luck on your fitness journey, you got this!

Oh wow. This just hits perfectly. I love various distortions you use throughout this song. Your vocals are freaking rad. I love the choices in panning the guitar hard to the left and then filling everything out so well. Fantastic work!

Really like the guitar riff!

Vraiment cool! Really like the chord progression and the baritone 😎
