Quand tu penses que tu n'en fais pas assez

By djippy on February 1, 2026 4:44 pm

Tough week for me, I was pretty sick Thursday, Friday, Saturday was not that bad and getting OK today...

Last week I did mention on my Submission that I wasn't sure which "box" I wanted to put myself in yet, ineff just told me that I should continue the "mellotron-live drums" way for now. Since I was low in energy, I just did it... I don't feel that it will be my go to for that long tho, but it is fun to do.

Did add a shirt on the snare drum to have more of a "dead" snare drum tone. I love the ringy overtones, but I did feel it was not suiting this track.

Started this week only this Saturday, did think of using one of my cheats (some live recodings of rehearsal jam)

I like the sounds of the track, but it is super fresh so hard to know for sure if I was "lucky" and did stuff right away or not and life goes on and I need to push forward!

Track is about not thinking what you do is good enough - not enough. Sometimes it can be true (in the case of this track even...)

Lyrics:

This shot was taken last Monday where it was -25 Celscius felt, with quite a bit of snow still on the ground. I am stubborn, so decided to go to the office biking anyways Monday and Tuesday but I think it just totally drained me and it probably why I was sick at the end of the week.

So little JPD finess journey. With the commute and indoor bike, Even feeling super bad I was able to pull out a bit of light cardio for a total of about 7hrs again this week. With the low energy, I was pretty bad at eating "only" healty, did take multiple sweets, candies and sugar just to "fuel" myself. At least with the sport done I was able to stay at 89kg (197 lbs)...

I like the drums honestly, and the singing is rockin. Great beat!

Happy week 5 Djippy. I'm really digging super dry snare and the thick bass drum sounds!

Strong vibes, it's all consistent and blends well. Nice work!

I love that muted snare sound. It's been really popular in a lot of modern psych rock bands (Tame Impala being a big one). It just sounds so nice. Those synth arps were really cool too! I enjoyed the overall vibe of the tune.

Btw, I would love to collab with you sometime if you'd like to play some drums for me wink I'll think of something cool sometime and reach out when I got something.

I definitely like the sound of the mellotron and live drums and wouldn't mind if you stick with it for a bit.  It sounds very cool.

Un peu c'est bien, deux peux c'est mieux - hahaha tres bonne phrase.

J'aime le son de ce track. L'arp de l'intro est vraiment bien aussi!

This is like a masterclass in how to make meandering chords work and feel cohesive.  Drum sounds are stellar and fit the track perfectly.

Epic cowbell moment. Also struggled with me health habits this week, let's stay strong and get back on the horse. Get well soon man!

oooh feels like it could be on the eternal sunshine soundtrack.  The thick punchy snare with the mellotrons/bass is such a nice combo.  I hope you're feeling better soon!

Really enjoy this one! The raw drums make it that much better. The strings are really attractive too! Cheers

Great choice with the slightly muted snare, and your voice soars beautifully casual through this laid-back vibe, nice work! heart

great vibe, the drums sound so good. everything really. nice work!
hope you are feeling better heart

The arp synths on top of the trons are super nice. Sounds so big, very nice!

Thanks a lot! I did crank this track very quickly. Listening back to it, I should have muted te toms as well, but it is only two fills so...

I'd love to try to put a bit of what I do into one of your tracks! You can go polyrhythm, I can "manage" 3/4 - 4/4 - 5/4 - 7/4 - 6/8, very quick tempos and double bass is a BIG STRETCH tho!

(and stupid 4-4 is my go to! wink )

Thanks a lot! Yeah, super happy about that snare sound. (I didn't even work much on this one, so the meme about snare sounds like shit is NOT true for once!!!)

Getting up the hill again. Feeling pretty good today, still a bit tired, but not bad! Super happy track sounds "ok" as I didn't put much time into this one... Quick and lucky!

Take care all, you are great fuel to sit again and have a bit of fun recording some stuff!

Very nice! Really enjoyed this.

... biking in -25 degrees is a bit mad... and yeah that probably has something to do with the getting sick bit... buuuuuut... you did end up making a pretty dope track despite it all.  Really awesome bass line.

Surprised there hasn't been more mentions on the vocals, they're always a highlight for me or maybe I just think French vocals sound so cool. Hope you're feeling 100% again.

Oh love this instantly. The synth choices are magnificent.

Cool track! Really liked the start with the synth arpeggios. And I think I recognize the cowbell that made a little appearance !

i enjoy the slight melancholy to the tones but also feels kind of playful. Hope you get well soon!

epic vibes in this track! mellotron and drums is indeed a sick combo!! oh and as I finish typing this I can hear the prev week's track, cool follow up! beautiful singing too, and the flow is cool, and a quick google translate for the lyrics makes me appreciate them even more!

I like the vibe!

Thank you so much for the kind word. It helps to get back to it. I know a bit more what I can do vocally now, and I am not afraid to edit my takes so it is "ok"... I feel this week track would have been elevated maybe if I had took the time to add some vocals in it, but I could come back to it later I suppose...

Thanks! Same synths will be on tomorrow's track... smile

Rock on all!

Thanks so much for the kind words, you guys are awesome.

Brr. Feel like you've been ramping up the quality this is really good.

Something sounds a bit off on the airpods maybe wanted the drums to cut through more, not sure if the bass is maybe taking over. Great nonetheless
