More (Drums) is More (fun?)

By djippy on May 15, 2022 3:01 am

I started this one just drumming some random stuff using a click. Then did another pass of drums over my initial drums.

Then tried to add some synths, some electric bass, some guitars and a touch of vocals.

Then did try to edit this so there is kind of a structure, there is one, ish, but it is still a little bit a mess... Anyways guys, this is what I do have for you this week.

Not much fx on drums, this is pretty much how those sounds on my garage.
Guitars are from my special edition strat direct into my small Randall amp. Duplicated, panned LR with a slight delay.

Bass is an Ibanez DI into my Focusrite ISA One.
Synths are some softsynths...

The natural reverberation you can hear after the drum hits is really cool and the guitar has an awesome dirty tone to it.  The synths are a nice little touch that add a slightly different dimension to it when they come in.

Haha have you seen Nyarlos' tracks? They all start with pictures of his gear, so for a second I thought I had opened a Nyarlos track. smile That's one good looking guitar you have here. The Randall has this well lived and loved vintage vibe - it's been through many wars and is ready to deliver. I like the raw vibe of this track, this reminds me of the jam sessions I do with my band. smile

Always envious of the clarity of your sounds. A little avant-garde for my taste, but some cool little nuggets in here. Nice work!

I like that warm fuzz you got going on. Nice! Also, those little scrapey sounds really add texture.

Awesome guitar tone. Like a Bowie Ziggy vibe! Maybe some Scary Monsters too. Some cool runaway synth arps in the second half that I'd like to hear more of.

Yo, this is awesome

Thanks, yes, happy about garage being a little lively, overheads are set up almost on the ceiling (not too hi ceiling) but it leave some "air" to the drums sound.

Yes I did listen to many of his tracks, and since some users requested more pictures, I am trying to take some time to add one or two when I submit my tracks now.

Maybe I'll do some synth driven track by the end of the year. It is not a go to for me, but still fun tools to play with.
