Mon robot a besoin d'un firmware update

By djippy on March 3, 2024 11:08 am

Hello again.

Another one with fuzzy guitars, some drums and synth bass... I put more time into this one than the previous weeks, not sure if results is that better, but I am ok with the track! I'll stick to that for a couple more weeks, then we will see!

This track is pretty dense. Hope you'll like it. This is about this guy that is friend with a Robot, but the Robot now needs a firmware update. This is a little scary.

It sounds a little slow, perhaps a firmware update isn't a terrible idea.

I like this one a lot! I really hope that Robot gets that firmware update.

Drums sound really locked in! Very epic sounding song. A bit grim. Sounds huge, great job.

Holy shit! This is a really serious song and I really enjoyed your guitar work, this song got me all worked up and out of words

Great sound - stereo fuzz for daaaaays.  Amazing work with compressors on the drums and master bus... a well "glued" track.  And especially when the vocals finally hit - offft - dark.  Love the half time 6/8 in there too - that's not something you hear often in tunes.

Starts out immediatly fat and fuzzy and continues on strong throughout. Love it

This goes hard

You have some really great fuzzy guitar tone in this one. I really like how heavy and groovy this song is. It kinda feels like psychedelic doom metal! The bass line is really good. Awesome song!

Oh wow that fuzz guitar is straight upfront and sounds great! It manages to have the static radio electric vibe of a the fuzz but it retains some body. Great drums sound as usual! Nothing trumps a real kit, especially for good heavy rock.

Nice composition! I like the tempo and the heavy feel. Great drums. Nice vocals too, they fade into the music like an instrument. I didn't follow what they say but sounds understandable if one puts an effort big_smile

Love the sound and tone of the lead guitar.  This robot's theme sounds like it could be part of a hybrid retro-futuristic spaghetti western.  Gave me some Ennio Morricone vibes early on.  The drums sound gigantic and had me nodding and lurching about.  Daaaamn this is heavy.  Love how the synths support the ending too.  \m/

Love this. The clean surf rock esque rhythm guitar fits so well with the fuzzy lead. The drums are so so good. Great punch and intensity.
What did you record your drums with? A room mic, individual mics, or a mix of both?

Maybe, we will see... Story to be continued on one of the next tracks.

Yeah, I did push even more the fuzzes on this track! Thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, mais je suis pas sur que le firmware update va bien se finir... wink Merci pour les bons mots.

I feel there are probably some mix tweaks to be done on the track, but yeah the vocals sits pretty good I think. Thanks!

Yeah, I feel I'll try to continue to write songs with that theme as it is a fun one. Thanks for the kind words!

Those are my acoustic drums on the garage. I do have close mics + my little Fender Pro Jr. as a sub kick in front of the Bass Drum. No room mic for this track, but 2 overheads relatively hi, so there is a room sound even if I would dial down the reverbs, close mics for toms - floor are shure pg56, pg52 on kick, one Rode ntk and one Apex 250 ribbon mic as over heads. (Which I think might be a little too much on those drums after listening again today, but it is what it is...) those are plugged into some Presonus D8 pre amps and Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 first gen interface to Reaper. Setup looks like that, but the little Fender amp on the shelves is in front of the kick as a sub kick mic.

It looks like Ableton and nice food on the left.
The track really rocks dirty.

Fuck yes!  Killer drums, great melodies and basslines, the vibe is smoky-noir-groove-driven-noir-post-rock.  That's probably wrong, but those are the adjectives that first popped up in my head...

Awesome dark vibe to this one! Really love all the high end drive in the guitar tones.

damn those drums sound killer! great track heart

wow everything sounds amazing! Really love the drums you captured and of course that fuzzzzzz. Firmware updates can be scary, especially for your best friend. Like the time I updated my sub 37 firmware. This captures that moment and I'll listen to this next time I do any updates.

Such good crunch, big sound! I'm rocking. Drums sound awesome. Vocals too! Love the 12/8 groove.

Loving the rawness and tempo. Amazing. Very dramatic but also feels playful somehow.  Favorited.

Yep! But I did use Reaper for this actual track. Sometimes I feel to compose by "Block", when it is the case, I do boot Ableton, but I am more at home with Reaper.
And Yeah, I do have a bunch of canned food on my "Studio" smile .

Love the adjectives there... Thanks!

I like that sneaky little staccato bass too.

Bit hard to hear the vocals on the AirPods at the coffee shop.
