Le Zoo

By djippy on September 6, 2020 2:58 am

Going to the zoo this Sunday. I hate those usually, but with the little family it should do a fun day.

Song was all tracked here at home, acoustic drums, guits, bass. Did add a keyboard track as well. I feel that it is an imcomplete song, could not think of a hook or something different for a verse...

Anyways, another done. Not too sure about the mix, I rushed it this evening.

Have an excellent week all.

This is where most of my songs are recorded/composed this year:

JPD.

Hope the zoo was fun.  The mix sounds good to me.  Everything seems to fit well together.  Ooh.  I like that dirty guitar that comes in around 1:44.  Also, it's cool to see a picture of your workspace.  Looks nice.

Big fan of that tremolo, nice track!

Nice track, I like the sounds! Enjoy the zoo smile

You won't need to worry about running out of drumsticks if one snaps. Nice setup. The sound turns out really well for having a concrete floor. I never setup microphones for drums, but I imagine it creates a lot of reflections in the mics.

When you get the composition where you want it, it will sound great. I'm already liking the way it sounds.

Zoo was pretty fun, a good day with the kids and girlfriend. I am pretty happy with the garage, I'd like to get it soundproofed but this is a big job so for now it is all right.

Not sure I'll work again into this... maybe one day who knows.

About the concrete floor, I am pretty sure I'll leave it as a reflective surface. I might put an epoxy finish at some point, or just concrete paint if I want to save some $$$. I actually like to have a kind of lively room to record the drums. I have some junk on the garage so there are not that much crazy frequency build up. I know that it is not the best for mixing, but I find a decently live room more confortable than something really dead. I usually mix with open headphones anyways and then listen to the monitors...

JPD.

Guits are pretty solid here, could probably recycle that as is.

Love how the drums + guitar snap together to sound massive, big portishead vibe here
