Graviton Beam

I'm keeping on the LSDJ kick for this week and am gonna try to create a new LSDJ album, week by week, with my submissions for the early part of this year's WeeklyBeats.

This one's in a minor key using a blues scale for the leads, accompaniment, and bass.  It's a little funky but not swung.   For the pulse channel lead I used a table with W commands to manually switch the waveforms for some rudimentary pulse width changes which created a nice "wah" effect on the instrument.

For the bass I used a few patches.   A straightforward bass for the tamer parts of the track and an old LSDJ slap bass patch of mine from a previous album for the funky bass solo breakdown that happens about a third of the way through the track.   Later I introduce a heavily distorted bass patch to create a secondary rhythm in the bass solo.

The accompaniment is some pretty standard stereo panned arps as well as some pseudo delayed arp runs on the pulse channels during the breakdown.  I delayed the arps after I duped them by around 3 steps.

As always, thanks for listening!

I am simply in awe, this is spectacular

Spectacular chiptune every damn time. This fits so perfectly in a mega man game.

this is a BANGER
and the scope is really fun!

DUDE HOW DO YOU MAKE MAGIC LIKE THIS, HIT DAMN! I fucking love this!!! Such a cool sense of movement and energy. Incredible!

Needs a PICO-8 shooter to go along with a hyped up banger like this.

Slapper

what a banger
absolute sorcery

The buddy cop duo in space vibe is strong.

ooof this gets going from the start \m/ hell yais! those arps sound so good blasting away.  oooh the bass is so nice and funky at 1:25ish beat is such a head nodder. The bass melody is sick! Ooh the outro landing. Bad assery!

Yet another track that you can barely believe is possible on gameboy.  The solos/performances are incredible, as always--but I particularly love that super-wide close delay part starting ~1:45 and likewise all those bluesy demoscene arps.

I can't get pico 8 games to emulate properly on my retro handheld but I second the notion!

Thanks, yeah the bass breakdown took a lot but it was worth it.  I used an old patch of mine that I want to use a bunch more.

Using my M8 knowledge and tricks to make some cool arp delays on LSDJ.  Pretty transferable due to the similarities.  Thanks for listening!

Excellent. Great energy through out. Love that active bass. (And the second bass that joins in midway!)

You had me at the 8-Bit nature of this song. Excellent πŸ‘ŒπŸΎ

This is such a fun song, man! 😁

Masterful work man.

I love you detailed everything is, while having relatively few elements.
There's so much going, but the mix never feels crowded.

Looking forward to the full album!

Amazing as always! It’s really impressive what you’re getting out of those four tracks smile You make me want to spend more time with LSDJ!

Instant classic!

This is bananas. When I grow up, I want to be able to make LSDJ tracks like Disposable Planet heart. Especially digging the sound of that crunchy bass
