Game Tune

This week actually came together really quickly. This is the most confident I've felt about a song so far--I had enough ideas that I didn't struggle to make the 60 second minimum time! By Wednesday, I already had a song with an A section, a B section, some transitions and varied energy levels, so I was pretty happy with it. It's definitely not perfect and still isn't quite what I wanted, but I got it to a point where I felt like I could have spent many hours just tweaking it and though about posting it in #feedback for suggestions. Then I realized I had other important things to do (like practicing guitar) and that the point of Weekly Beats is just to get something out without worrying about it being perfect, so I decided to leave it alone.

My biggest concern here is that I hope I didn't just copy some C64 song. That's certainly the genre I was going for and I used Avrilcadabra's SID pack for it. It just came together so much more easily than previous weeks that I'm worried I just reproduced something I've heard before. I can't think of any specific song it sounds like though, so I think I'm good.

I also welcome any feedback on this tune. Anything you think I could have done better to make it pop or if I had a note that's not in the right key or whatever.

This sounds wild! I'll have to dig into Avril's pack, I think. I think the rhythmic lead that just holds the same note might do better shifting up or down in the third bar to complement the main lead, but I'm not good at keeping stuff in key so don't rely on my ears. But overall this is super catchy and bright! I wanna say "cute" but please don't take that as minimising your composition!

very playful melody

Nice! Thanks for the suggestions! I'll play around with that and see!
