Tempo Crawl Up

By Devieus on June 19, 2018 8:34 pm

For this iteration I did something ABC notation never could do, or maybe it could but was maybe too much of a hassle to implement. Anyway, tempo change. In particular in the upward fashion at the same time the chorus plays, which may be a bit jarring, or it may be retrospective, hearing the same theme in a different way if you will. An air of familiarity with a distinct odor of difference mixed in.

The other very noticeable thing is the harmony plays exactly one thirty-second note off from the main lead, which makes me super pleased I'm not writing it in staff, because that little shit will ruin your day. The interesting thing there is that this tiny rest becomes ever more insignificant as the tempo goes up. So it starts off a really big deal and ends up a cool effect.

Harmony, man.

Anyway, I get the feeling the tempo changes are too sharp and too infrequent at the beginning, 20bpm is a sharp shift. I've got plans for that.

Progressing nicely here smile

Yeah, I like that slight delay in the sounding of notes. Really thickens up the sounds and creates a bigger spacial quality.

I really like the progression towards the end, I wish there was more of that. That bass sure tickled my eardrums, very clean n' fat sounding!

Really hits a good groove around the middle.

Agreed on this! I also enjoyed the progression of the harmony's role throughout, curious to hear what plans you've got for a revisit of this concept smile I'll be checking in!

Some very interesting things happening here as the tempo goes up. Even though I read the description and knew that the tempo would keep increasing I was expecting it to settle into almost every new tempo.
Curious to hear the coming results of your plans.

The whole process is progressive in itself.

Exactly as planned. I personally find it works best with a higher tempo.

That's the thing about high tempos, they run down the beats faster. I'll have to check it out because I'm a big fan of it too.

It really does, that intro just keeps on going.

I have planned on putting stuff in higher registers at the least, maybe make the slow parts last shorter.

The program is set up so it can increase in tempo indefinitely, unfortunately Macrotune only goes to 150 or so. It's just the timing's a little off in places.

The last half is pretty tight!

Yea! Now to make the rest tight as well.

This is interesting... reminds me of some nature phenomena, like rain or waterfall. Great stuff!

Maybe it's like a representation of life, where it all inevitably escalates into a hot mess of fastness.

I agree with Ashen Simian, it gives off that time lapse feel of watching nature being nature smile  Noice!

Nice effect. It forced my drummer brain into transcription mode.

It probably doesn't help the drummer is out doing its own thing.
