Echoes of Power

By Devieus on April 18, 2024 6:39 am

I like this song, especially if I put my attention to it. It's questionable if it's actually metal, but I'd say it fits.

The amp we have has some interesting effects, like reverb, and delay, that when combined with maximum values cause any input to go on forever in one really long echo. So I used that, twice. Once on a random F#, then again on the G by letting go. From there I dropped it into one of those generated files, gutted that, and filled it back up again. I really liked the main melody it generated, something about it just hit real good, so preserved that.

The choir is just there for show, same with the birds. It's in 3/4, but never saw the need to change that. Same with the Dorian mode, I simply used the G at the halfway point for a key shift. However the echo-y bass is definitely in theme.

wow!  SUPER epic feel, love the extended breakdowns, make it really epic when it comes back in the end.

love the birdz as always

Metal or not, it's definitely got power. (And echoes!) big_smile
The dissonance, the overpowering density, and heavy beat on display here are all awesome. I feel like a more present bassline would help anchor the track and take it to the next level, but as is, it's a lovely tune with a gripping sound!

The chiptune organ is so beautifully composed and works so well as a backbone for the track - all the other elements seem to dance around it and respond and reply, it's really quite intricate. Definitely a metal spirit here.

An unpredictable spectacle. Crazy effects.

Makes me think of swords, magic, horned monsters, and pixelated dungeons. The guitar this time isn't so forward, the chiptune sounds dominate and set the tone. Good harmonic progressions.

I like this one!

Nothing but the most epic will suffice, birds included.

I can see that. I guess he was more focused on the power in the higher register.

I don't think he touched it all that much, probably a testament to our generator, though he made it shine. If their dance is beautiful, it's because he made them dance to his whims.

This is still relatively simple compared to what's to come, this is just an echo. A very well placed one for sure.

I like this one as well. People say my stuff is like a shanty, but this could work well as one just as much. Pirate swords, pirate magic, pirate horned monsters and pirate pixelated dungeons.
True, the guitar isn't as prevalent, mostly to see how far it could go, but stuff still had to be there, so be there it goes.

I most liked the arrangement, kept me guessing. Remember Deadmau5 saying something like “our music is too predictable, I can always hear the next chord and the next part coming”

Nice sounds and textures. Subjective/CC our styles are pretty different but I might have telegraphed the transitions just a bit more. They are still different enough that I’d be pleasantly surprised by them. E.g. could have been cool to have a riser leading up to the first supersaw chords dropping.

I'm pretty sure that's no supersaw, do you mean the second guitar chord? Either way, there's buildup to it, but no fancy drop, which I suppose we can mark up to differences in background, going more for "epic" rather than "hype".

I really like the sound design on all the synth parts in this track.

This was super epic between the synths and the guitars and big drums.  Gave me some Birbz meet Metroid like adventure smile

This feels like a solemn procession. I like the dynamic effects when you pull everything back around 0:50 and how it builds back up.

I like the powerful and grand atmosphere of this song.

Chiptune? Chipdoom? This is great, gives me wonderful Metroid vibes.
