Long Drone

Felt like keeping it slow again. Another very simple composition. Wanted to play around with recontextualizing a simple arp melody, but didn't get very far and ran out of steam. Reused an older bass instrument for the main drone, but choked it with a low pass to let the arp pierce through. The transient on the kick sounds so dorky on my monitors, should have tested it on something else than my headphones. smile

Atmospheric samples form freesound.org. The redesign made the site a 1000% more enjoyable to use.

That kick from 2:17 was a surprise. I like how to contrast so drastically with the rest of the sound. The way you wrap the pads around 2:40 was also great, it feels like a giant animal is swimming in the ocean and took a sharp turn. Dreamy track.

What is that kick exactly? Is that a foley?

It's macrosynth, but shaved with lp/hp filter. It's ... odd smile

i had a pleasant time listening to this music

the mixture of tones in this is really fantastic

love the tinny chip paired with the rumbling drone

i don't know about "dorky" but i'll say this: a more "middle" kick actually lets the drone rumble be the low-end-star-of-the-show

(lol about a night club advertising a low-end-star-of-the-show, that might be a different thing altogether wink )

perfect track length also

great work. love the vibe of this.
