We Are Bigger

Wanted to play around with a vocals only project. These sung mantras came to me this week reflecting on the January 30 national strike and protest. This was a rough run with tracking done last night and mixing right up to the edge of the deadline. Honestly was really excited after tracking because I'm a singer and was pumped on the vocals. But then mixing killed my vibes, ha. It's hard to listen to your own voice over and over again. I am glad I tried it out though, because I imagine I'll try more projects like this throughout the course of WB26.

damn dena! chills... crying... thank you

*as per the mixing it sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
i think the repition of this practice will help you get through listing struggle
it's not easy to mix a'capella stuff is it? curious how many vocal tracks you recorded to get this result -  it sounds seamless

between you and ecso and emily, i might need to stop for tonight and give my heart a chance to catch up

stunning work heart

I love these lyrics. And man oh man do I feel you on mixing my own vocals. I think you did a fantastic job!

So great. I am right there with you on mixing (tolerating) my own vocals. @Emily is right - it'll get easier the more you do it. Your voice is lovely, though!

I love that the rhythm is a heartbeat.

Powerful! The heartbeat feel in the background paired with your beautiful voices has a steady strength to it. The vocal layering took it to the next level!

Love how the second voice that comes in sits a bit differently in the mix than the harmonies.  Such a nice build up to the final vocal harmony.  Excellent work!

Wow, this really catches the vibe of anthemic and unifying while also being somber. Great harmonies, nicely done.

“When you hear us coming, tremble at our sound” - perfection. Love this so much.

Music is fantastic. Oh, the chills when the second voice came in. Heartbeat drum is perfect. Ending harmonies are lovely, and those subtle round-like echoes in the background add such depth. Smashed it.

Beautiful! Mix is sounding fantastic, really enjoying that variety of processing with the vocals.

I feel like we were definitely in a similar mindset this week. Love this, reminds me of Low. I played it a second time and cranked the volume.

Thank you friend heart It is really not easy to mix a'capella stuff! I 5 total vocal tracks and did a lot of copy and pasting to create the rounds. I opted to do that to save my voice...but cutting and pasting was kind of annoying so I may approach it differently next time. Thanks for all your kind words!

Thank you! I wanted the whole track to feel human...even though that heartbeat is a digital kick haha.

Wow, thank you! To even be mentioned in the same vein as Low feels like an honor. Thank you for cranking it!

What a powerful piece, both in lyrics and arrangement. A strong and clear statement delivered so well.
Fantastic vocal performance and really crisp and clear mixing!
I feel you on mixing killing your vibes, I feel it often ends up being a psychological battle to stay excited about an idea. I'm hoping you stick at more ideas like this throughout the year though, the results are stunning!!
