A Raven's Dream

By DataJanitor on January 28, 2024 11:38 pm

So... I had the music for this done days ago, but thought it needed some words and lyrics --
except, I'm not really good with writing words/lyrics, and I can't sing...

... I figured I would try out AI and have it write me lyrics...

so I gave an AI prompt to a free online song lyric generator, added with 'in the style of' and provided "Siouxsie and the Banshees" --

it wrote me out an epic 6 verse set of lyrics that were definitely "in the style of" Siouxsie and the Banshees... but then.. I had to make it work vocally, and.. I can't sing.

Along comes the internet search for text to speech singing... and I stumble across Emvoice.

Huh...
I downloaded it, and then spent basically all day Saturday and Sunday fiddling around trying to make it 'sing' to this track... but it kept crashing, and I'd lose work, despite saving frequently - in the end, I couldn't even get the first verse to play through singing the lyrics right..

So... I ditched the whole lyrics and vocals idea and went back to the base instrumental track, played it for my spouse, and had her chime in...

and thus cane the title, "A Raven's Dream," based on her interpretation of the music without any words.

I was a learning experience.

really wonderful eeriness of this track, it might be cool to release the lyrics you got alongside this as sort of an accompanying poem! great work

this is lovely & i hope we get to hear you sing this year!

The title had me wondering if Edgar Allan Poe was an influence with the lyrics.  Def has those cool dark vibes and could easily fit into a wintry dream sequence of a film.
