The Dogs Are Ok Outside

By Daisy on April 21, 2024 7:13 pm

People in my house are always asking :Are the dogs ok in the yard?"
They are very OK, getting up to all sorts of things before they are called in for Dog Dinner.
The piece starts slowly as they walk out the door-- looking around. Then the fun starts.

I invented a scale for this piece, and instead of using harmony based on triads, I used 4ths.
Thanks for listening!

Oh beautiful! Is that live recording of all these instruments? Are you recording them all yourself? If it's not a recording, it's crazy subtle programming. if it's not programming, it's crazy subtle playing and recording. Thank you for sharing that kind of track, they are most welcome in adding more diversity in the landscape of weeklbeats tracks!

CANINIAN MODE!!!!

This is really amazing.  I am dying to know the answer to kedbreak's questions.

amazing work!

Thanks for the kind comments!  I so like being called crazy- subtle-- the hallmark of violin playing. The recording is not live. I use Musescore 4 and all their midi when I sit in front of a full-score and write the parts according to the harmony that flows out of me. I put much effort into the articulation choices to simulate how I would play these parts. I love the bow, and all the painterly artistry that can be evoked with it.
Musescore gives me the ability to communicate some of this.

Hi there!  Thanks for the enthusiasm!  At some point I will figure out how to record live. You caught my synthetic scale!  My last pieces went through all the Greek Modes, this last one was a synthetic scale-- I had to call it something-hence Ca-NIN-ian--Glad to hear from you!

all the sound is coming from Musescore 4??  it sounds beautiful!  great job on the articulation

The sound of happy doggos. So what's the caninian mode comprised of?

Here is what I worked from.

E F Gb Ab B C Db E

HS HS WS m3 HS HS m3

A scale with one WS, four HS and two m3rds.  EEK

The quartal Harmony with this scale gave me all varieties of 4ths!

Oh man I love this piece... and I 100% would not have guessed these were Musescore sounds... that piece of software has come a LONG way in the last five years.  I really think you captured the boisterous joy of dogs at play.  Very nice piece.

WOW, such a cool piece. thank you heart
