☤ caduceus

after a brief interlude to explore other ideas and shapes, we are a back. Everything done on the dirtywave M8.

A bit of a slow-boil track. It reminds me a bit of 80s anime for some reason even thought it doesn't specifically reference anything.

You start out in what appears to be a funeral precession, a dirge, but by the end you realize all the ritual was to wake up whatever was in the coffin. Maybe it ends with the lid cracking open and a blue-grey, bony hand reaches out.

I went with caduceus because of the Hermes lyre connection (there is a little karplus/strong line in the track), but really it was just pure coincidence that I had named my track "SNAKE" as a placeholder. The subconscious is just the noise in your brain you don't have words for yet.

I dunno, I had to fight my instinct to cut this one down a little. I like it so I left it at length.

my only critical feedback was some of the high end at 3:13 was just a little too high for me, but maybe just my speakers

doesn't feel as loud at 4:45 with the other elements supporting it

the length was great for me, there was a lot of variety with the breakdown, so i wanted all of it

great stuff!  i could see the greek mythology underworld for sure

Is that the little hi hat bits. Damn, y'know I brought those up at the last second thinking they sat too far back but didn't let the change settle in. I hear it now lol.

I like this a lot. The distorted guitar-like synth riff is excellent, the rest of the piece moves forward slowly but steadily. The hi-hat Drew is talking about is indeed pronounced, dialing it back -3dB would make it sit better. But it's a small detail, don't worry about it. It's an excellent track!
