Interrupted Sleep

By Daisy on July 28, 2024 4:42 pm

I have a favorite Note.  It is Eb.  When I whistle to my dogs, I whistle three steady Ebs.  They have learned that pitch. I hum Eb as I go to sleep. The Tuba has a constant Eb throughout the piece.  The rest is what ever came out of my head while I wrote this.  I could be some sort of subconscious manifestation.  I experiment upon the playground of Eb with scales in various iterations like unison and oppostions- the same rhythms halved and then doubled and played against other rather surprised parts.-- Rhythmic patterns, imitative riffs etc. But always back to Eb.

i'm sure you know that guitars are tuned to E in "standard" tuning. there was a year of my life though when i tuned all of my guitars to Eb. it almost felt... out of my control?
i thought it was just because i was depressed, but maybe my heart was just trying to recalibrate. i'm a big fan of Eb and love this jaynty piece you have shared with us.
thank you, Daisy
