Strengthen All You Tether

Happy Week 34! Wanted to try a more effected sound for guitar/vocals so I messed around with some chorus, overdrive, and reverb until I arrived here. Was going to leave it as one guitar/vocal take but it’s too fun to add parts. We’re off the grid though so the overlapping fingerpicking finds its way in and out of sync, close enough I say. I also think this one came out a bit quiet... sorry >.<

That was gorgeously melancholic. The chorused vocals and guitar were an awesome choice and they really reinforced the tone of the song and the imagery in the lyrics. And I actually think the in-and-out-of-sync fingerpicking creates a really cool texture. All in all a fantastic song!

I agree the fingerpicking finds it place in this as the whole recording sounds like it was just unearthed from a buried chest.  Dusted off, tape spliced and instant nostalgia.  Beautiful lyrics especially the opening lines 'to cease the storm you weather' oof.  Well done!

The effects are really interesting on this track... I agree with Tone Matrix, it creates very dusty 8mm film, nostalgic vibe.  Like a distant but well recalled memory.

Awesome track. The effects add a lot of nostalgia in the mix. Your vocals have a true and believable status in here, not overdoing emotions, I would compare it to the way Jose Gonzales keeps silent but strong.

ooooh, i very much love the production on this one! first off - it's an absolute gem of a song. really strong melody and lyrics, but yeah... all the accompaniment and sound choices really create a magic room for the song to live in.
really nice work, Cursory!

what a vibe! Agree with jwh, love the production.

Aw thanks, glad the chorus worked out, probably will mess with this kind of thing more often. Also happy to hear that my mistakes felt like "happy accidents" this time around smile

Thank you! I think "unearthed" articulates well what I felt about the sound while recording. I'm not even surprised anymore when you point out my favorite lyric lol

Thank you so much! That is such a kind comparison smile it would have been helpful to have tried to channel that style while recording haha.

Aw thank you, a magic room is such a kind way to describe it (and a new thing for me to aspire to)
