Seafaring Symphony

Happy Week 9! I spent most of my time this week working on a different song which I wasn’t able to give enough time to >.< Hopefully it will see the light of day next week.

This week instead is some good-old guitar looping fun. I used the octave pedal in Logic which sometimes evokes an orchestral sound for me, and in particular, the starting chord motif borrows its rhythm from “Hadsel” by Beirut. From there, looped octave guitars playing syncopated lines in a kind of Andrew Bird way until things get loud and messy, then “clean it up” at the end. Doesn’t really feel like a “composition” but I had fun and spent very little time nitpicking which was great haha. Sorry the volume is extremely variable as layers grow.

What a playful guitar loop! Love the combination of articulations at play here. Those high staccato notes sound almost like pizzicato plucks on a violin. This has a cool kind of pseudo-orchestral feel to it, and I'm definitely here for it. smile

Good enough vibes for a cruise.

Sounds tropic and sweet! Love all the staccato picking on top of the swaying chords.

this was really fun, i really like your guitar playing. and nice to see Beirut & A.Bird referenced in your description!
i sang a Beirut song (Postcards From Italy) at my bandmate's wedding several years back  heart

Anytime music puts a smile on my face it's a win, thank you for this joyful tune.

Thanks! I felt the same way about the plucky, almost violin sound. There are sure to be more pseudo-orchestral tracks eventually smile

I went on a cruise once and every time we disembarked, they blasted "Orinoco Flow" by Enya. It's me and Enya holding down cruise vibes lol
