Carve Forever

By Cursory on February 15, 2026 9:25 pm

Back after the first (but likely not last) skipped year this week. I wrote this pretty early into 2025 and have tried recording with varying degrees of production/instrumentation, definitely some analysis paralysis. Some of these versions felt a bit "over handled" but I liked having a bit of electric guitar and double tracking. Started fresh this week and ended up here.

Is this actually James Taylor in disguise? Wow.

Great tune. Love the arrangement; the slide guitar is a perfect touch. That ascending part about 2/3s of the way through is gorgeous.

The fresh start definitely paid off -- congrats on finding that sweet spot and making something beautiful.

your voice is incredible wow. such a beautiful song, gonna be listening on repeat!

You skipped a year in a week? Sounds relatable, time flies these days.

Wonderful song, glad you stuck to it and your arrangement choice feels right. Good choice. I was listening without looking at the lyrics first and had literally three separate cases of misheard lyrics: "tied her eyes in", "absurd in teen", "grave migration". I know it's not the information you were after, but here you go anyway. Now you know! big_smile

feeling all the hours, feeling everything heart

Great to hear your sound back! Chill and beautiful as always. big_smile
"Great migration into your arms" is a really awesome line!

Very lovely song! I love the points with the restrained backing/doubled vocal. It's a perfect light touch.

Oh this kind of reminds me of early 70's George Harrison with the lovely slide guitar which from me is high praise indeed.

Really lovelly laid back vocals and you've captured that era of recording with the choice of vocal treatment.

Super impressed with this!

Love the vibes. The slides are awesome, vocal performance on point and strummed guitar sounds fine!

Nothing more to say, great song.

Obviously I don't know how the other arrangements went, but this sounds right to me. Nice work. A real breath of fresh air among all the electronic stuff (mine included!) on here.

Man, I love all the slide layers around ~2:00... makes me wish I was sitting on the deck of Catalina 21, someplace sunny... with a line in the water, that I wasn't really minding.  Just bein' warm.

Oh, this is really nice.  Love your voice.  Love the wondering slide-guitar sound.

Omg! It's beautiful!!

Goodness gracious this is gorgeous.  The slides, your voice and strums sound great.  Heartfelt lyrics as always heart

What a pleasant song.
