Piano and drum experiment

By Crash Overture on May 2, 2026 10:47 pm

This is a simple one. Basically 2 grand pianos using two different auto play settings, some vintage drums, and one synth.

i spent a lot of time trying different accompaniment but nothing sounded as I wanted. Or it started to get to messy.  Even things like adding a swing to the piano or moving up or down a semi tone.  Something about the auto play just stuck in my head.  I will say that the end part when the drums really kick in is when it shines.

Also next week will be odd because I am away and will try to post something.

Oh the dissonant notes are really lovely and build good tension. Nice little experiment.

Next week: find a place outdoors with some lovely background ambience and sing what you feel into your phone. Job done!

Simple and fun! And yeah as the drums come in, I wanted more! But that's ok, leave em wanting wink

a very successful experiment, i'd say. i also very much appreciate the dissonance and that beat that bubbles up.
safe travels!

Thanks! Definately a voice memo of me singing in the hills was on my mind. But I hear the wind is fierce. Still there will be a lot to play with.

Very pretty!

(I confess that before I hit play, I thought the experiment might be holding down the sustain pedal on the drum kit or doing cymbal rides on the grand piano lid. 😅 This is better.)

Some very cool intervals and changes get created by the intersecting pianos. I like it more before the drums come in I think.
