Electroplankton 10 - a little whimsy

By Crash Overture on July 5, 2026 4:19 pm

This one was done in all marine-piano. I really hadn't played with that mode yet, and it was fun to discover all the different layers and movements.

I used audicity to create layers of the different tunes. I would have liked to cut it up a bit more and do some more arranging, but I'm getting kicked out of the house for showings again.

I also tried adding strings, but it added suspense which I didn't want. And then flute, but it was competing too much with everything else.

I kinda like whimsy. Very magical

Also could have managed my time better... which I did not. I got back into raiding (or whatever they call it in FFXIV), haven't done that in like 15+ years. Now there are stats that score your performance. 100 being the best you can be, the gold standard.... I scored an epic 7, with my best performance at 36/100... I was embarassed, because I use to be really good. And so I spent wayyyyyy too much time improving, training, re-educating myself. Which is a dangerous place for me, because I use to be a World of Warcraft addict, but I did manage to get a rating of 99/100. But no, I can't using all my time gaming. It makes me so depressed. I am pleased with my improvement, but no no, too much time. Not doing that again. I will continue to play on the team, but back to very limited hours for my own sanity. No one on the team asked me to get better, I just went out and played like a mad person because that's what I would have done 15+ years ago, and why I've avoid team stuff for years.

I spent 15 minutes to find what it reminded me of, going from Aphex Twin's April 14th to whatnot.
In the end, had to ask ChatGPT and finally found it is actually Bjork's Frosti track (bleeding into the next track, Aurora).

Great unassuming track, really enjoyed that.

(I too kept away from online gaming as it was sure it would sink most of my time. These things are designed not to let you go. Good on you to put your foot down at the right moment. Keep strong.)

I think whimsey is the perfect word for it

Pretty and chiming.

The piano adds another layer to it.

It's very whimsical, and I enjoy the little moments of movement and tension that fade away, quite lovely.

(I quit FFXI cold turkey and never went back to another online rpg ever but I am not human in that way)

Thank you. I had not heard this Bjork song and that's crazy the similarities! Omg. Thank you. I hadn't thought about Aphex Twin in ages either. This is all very wonderful.  (I will kept strong. And you are very smart to keep away from it.)

Thank you! I think you are right to not go back mmos. I think now that I've realized it's a problem, I've put a lot more effort into crushing that problem before it becomes a problem again.

here for the whimsy! i think it was a good mood keeping it scaled back (i meant to say good "move" but i'm leaving it). very fun. plus our wind chimes played along again while it was playing smile
