Sugar Moon

By Cosmic Cairns on November 7, 2024 12:58 am

Well, I don't know what to say.  I feel discouraged, disheartened, disgusted, disappointed with my fellow humans, and in a state of disbelief.  I can't address the situation adequately yet, so I dug up an unfinished idea and fleshed it out a little.

If I fell right into the thralls of your magic spell
I hope I could journey outside myself
Straight up to the sugar moon
That's lighting my way through this foggy gloom
Illuminates millions of ancient runes
Telling tales of times long gone by
When worlds were young
And the stars in the sky
Spoke with one tongue

Bitter sun you won't share your warmth with just anyone
You hide behind clouds and stay on the run
From those who can't give you things
Emeralds and rubies and diamond rings
But most of all sacrificed human beings
Or you withhold your light and your good will
Save for the few who meet your exacting standards
What am I to do?

Thanks for a nice pick me up!

This rocks and I love the synth lines

right there with you, buddy.
grateful for community, grateful for music, and for the spirit of creators like you. that chorus is effervescent

what are we to do?
let's keep going

What a beautiful, lovely and joyful song.

Oh I love the harmony parts out wide in the stereo field. Yeah, this is suitably uplifting, but with that ominous outro for an ominous time. Thank you for this.

The beginning piano intro feels like a national anthem or something nostalgic.  Like recalling memories etc.  The strings provide great support for the rest of the track.  Vocal harmonies sound so full with the panned out guitars too.  Nice change up too with the guitar/synth solo too.  Right there with ya on the disappointment and disgust.  But thankfully we have this community to aid a bit in getting thru all of this smile

I share your feelings! Feel like I'm in some alternate reality. I probably need to finally lean there's a country out there that differs from the relative urban bubble I assume I'm in.
This song was a good pick me up and escape though, good feelings, catching sing along moments and lyrics that make me think about more pleasant things, so that was nice, thanks!
I think someday I want to sample your voice for a track, like especially the "ah ooh's" type backing bits, love those.

That solo at 2:57, with the interesting rhythm! I love how it surprised me. Beautiful track that took me into your world.

Best of luck, let's persevere and get through the darkness.

yes, sucks to realize how shitty our fellow humans are. But, I'm convinced music and community will get us through, especially after this weekly beats experience. Such a fun chorus. Whole song is great. Another banger!

I don't suppose we have a choice but to keep going.  And it's better for sure to do it with a community like this.

Ominous times indeed.  Thanks for listening!

I can feel the nostalgia vibe on the intro for sure.  We'll get through these times somehow, and I do think a community like this will help a lot.  Thanks for listening!

I agree it's easy to get yourself caught in your own little bubble.  I feel like it's gotten increasingly difficult to understand the world outside my bubble and I imagine that's the case for a lot of people.  Oh, and yes, absolutely feel free to sample some vocals, or anything you'd like to, really.

Thanks!  A surprising moment in a song is often the best part, I think.  Let's persevere indeed!

Thanks!  I'm appreciating the importance of community more and more.  And music has always been a great healer of the soul.

A sweet treat for these trying times to come.
