Sigil

By Cosmic Cairns on January 16, 2026 9:54 pm

When I was younger I was fortunate enough not to suffer too much from anxiety.  It was nice.  As I've gotten older, and especially in the last ten years or so, I've been much more prone to getting it.  The worst is when you wake up a couple hours before you actually have to get up and you can't fall back asleep because your brain gets locked into doom loops.  Anyway, I wanted to come up with a little ditty to help ward off negative thoughts.

Pass by pass by
Don't you even try
To linger in my doorway
Or to look me in the eye
Pass by pass by
Don't even question why
Don't want nothing to do with you
Don't need you in my life

Hell no
Get out of my mind
I don't want to think
About this all the time

Sigil your words glowing bright
Keep myself safe through the day and the night
Sigil to make things all right
And keep myself sane every day every night

Great lovely pop song to kick off the week! I like the vibe of the singing and the pulsing guitar. A blast!

Wow! This has potent anxiety slaying power! The vocal harmonies are sweet and the guitar parts and effects are perfect. Nice work!

Love the vocal harmonies!  such good feels to rid the anxieties and had me toe tappin along! \m/ yais!

Damn I needed this lol catchy I will be singing this all week

Handyclaps!!  (˃̣̣̥▽˂̣̣̥)... That synth tone at the end... really kinda nails the vibe too... like, this feels like a track that could be from a musical interlude in Amy's Dead End Dream House... cool track.

It was time to take a stop and check this out. Luckily I did. This was very good.

instant classic! that chorus harmony is sooooo good   heart

this holds a very effective positive vibe, thank you! heart

Love the vibe, the crisp sounding guitar, and the vocal harmonies. Great job!

This is so upbeat and antisocial. I love it.

Total ear worm. Vocals are laid-back and sunny (and I love the countermelody!). Guitars are bright and swing lightly with the drums. And yet the harsher synths and guitars of the bridge and outro poke through with the darkness hiding in the lyrics. Will be humming this tomorrow for sure

So so good, put a smile on my face, guitar tones are all lovely, great sounds all around

Wow. What a brilliant song. I have a great big grin on my face now! Will absolutely put this on next time I'm feeling the weight of the world!

Ive been someone who has had to deal with anxiety (and ptsd) since a very young age.
"Just do it", "I get knocked down, but I get up again, You're never gonna keep me down", and "I'm not anxious, I'm excited" have been --even though it sounds cliche-- mantras that helped me get by.
That, and a shiiiiitload of over-exposure.

I might add your lyrics to that list of mantras.
Great track!

This is amazing!

Thanks!  Slay that anxiety!

Toe tappin's probably a pretty good way to fight anxiety in general, I think.

Thanks!  I wasn't familiar with Amy's Dead End Dream House, so I looked it up and it sounds pretty interesting.  I'll have to check it out.

I'm going to try to do some more vocal harmonies this year.  Or at least that's the plan right now.  smile

Thanks!  Trying my best to stay positive over here.

I can see the antisocial angle.  If you want to sing this to people, that's cool by me.  They can be a big source of anxiety after all.

Thanks for taking the time to listen!  It stuck in my ear, too.

Thanks!  Putting smiles on faces is the best.

Thank you kindly and I hope it can be of some small help the next time things get rough.

Sorry to hear you've had to endure that stuff from such an early age.  If I had my way all kids would be carefree.  Heck, all people would be carefree, but 100% for sure kids.  Feel free to use this if you want.  If my silly little song can help someone in any small way, then it's certainly served its purpose.

Thanks!  And thanks for listening and commenting!

This song is a delight. I’d list everything I love about it, but I’d end up just describing the whole song. Thank you!

this is a very catchy sigil - wishing you peace

Came across this one yesterday while doing chores and playing a random WB Playlist. I was away from my phone, but when this came up I remember thinking "Yeah, I'm almost sure this is Cosmic Cairns!"
Very nice, man. I feel like the sentiment you're evoking here is very real and extremely common, especially nowadays.
Super fun!

Ah doom loops...this is a great remedy for sure! I love the instrumental section in the middle smile

I imagine others must feel this way, at least sometimes.  Also good to know I'm recognizable through phone speakers from a distance.  smile

I don't know if it'll help break out of the old doom loops or not, but I'm certainly willing to try it.  Thanks for listening!

the chorus is such earworm heart

Thanks!  And it really is an earworm. I've caught myself singing it unconsciously sometimes.  smile
