Ready Set Stop

By Cosmic Cairns on November 27, 2024 7:19 pm

Well, 2024 has been a really bad year.  It's just been one thing after another.  Last week my in-law's house burned down.  They made it out okay, but they lost everything including their dogs.  The house itself was deemed a total loss.  And as if that weren't enough, my mother-in-law keeps having falls and has been admitted to the hospital after hitting her head.  She suffered from vertigo even prior to the fire, but it seems like maybe the stress of the situation has made it worse.  She's doing okay right now, but they're keeping her in the hospital for the time being.

Anyway, it's just felt like a dark cloud has been hovering over us for a while.  I managed to knock this instrumental thing out.  I didn't feel like doing anything with lyrics this week, but it did feel a little cathartic to make this.  Music has healing powers and participating in WB has probably been the best thing about this year honestly.

I am very sorry for this! It seems indeed like very terrible time. I hope things will get better soon.

This track has a lot of positive energy, I hope this helps bring a lot of energy back into your life and things go better in the coming weeks. Best of luck with everything.

Damn, happy everyone seems to be OK. Very sad still, especially the dogs loss.

Take care man. The track is pretty nice, I like those synths.

Oh, I am sorry to hear what is going on in your life right now. It is so sad to hear they have lost the dogs and everything. It will probably take a long time to replace this, if it is possible at all. My best wishes to all of you.
There were some good moments you told us about this year, like the last vaccination you wrote songs about. Remember?
It is heroic not to quit our WB community after this and presenting such a humorous instrumental track. Thank you for this and I do understand when you do not find the time or mindset to listen to the extended long tracks I always make, at the moment.

oh buddy, i am so sorry. sending love to you and yours.
hope your mother-in-law can rest and heal.

i very much enjoyed hearing your music this week and i'm glad to know you've found some comfort in music and community during these difficult times. all my best  heart

Sorry to hear the bad news and that 2024 has been so rough, that's hard. Glad your mother in law is ok, but that's devastating, hard to imagine. Sending love your way. Thank you for sharing a light and fun instrumental tune, I enjoyed it. Glad it was a little cathartic at least.

ugh man that is horrible. Feeling for your family and their tragic loss, poor dogs!
I really like the repeated note chords around :22. A cool constant as things swirl around. Cool change up at 1:17. I know it's hard to find creativity in dark times but I hope it was a bit of an outlet for you and I enjoyed getting to listen to it!

Thanks!  I've been taking on mostly a support role, but it's no fun seeing bad things happen to people you care about.  Music does have healing properties and it's nice to be able to devote some attention to it sometimes.

The loss of the dogs really bums me out.  It sucks to lose possessions, too, but a lot of that stuff is replaceable.  Thanks for listening!

The week in Hawaii was for sure the best thing that happened this year and a nice break from what has otherwise been a pretty blah year.  I for sure want to stick it out in WB.  Too close to the end to quit, and also it's been a happy place for me this year and a nice distraction from other stuff.

Thanks!  I think I would honestly be feeling worse right now without the WB community.  It's nice to have something fun and productive to focus on.

Thanks!  Making some silly music certainly doesn't make everything all better, but it does make things more tolerable.  As does interacting with others here and listening and being inspired.

Thanks!  Sometimes when you don't know what to do, making some sounds is at least something to do.  And once I got started this thing just seemed to flow out.

So sorry to hear what's been happening in recent weeks with you and your family.  I hope your mother-in-law can feel better soon and that you guys can hopefully spend the holidays together.  Love to you and your fam.  This track was a total groove and trip.  From the guitars and drums to those far our synth leads you def channeled all of those emotions into this cathartic track.  Here's to better weeks ahead and hopefully a much better year.

Thanks for the well wishes.  Much appreciated.  Just trying to hang in there for the end of the year and hopefully some sort of fresh start in 2025.
