Katydid

I think as I've gotten older fall has become my favorite season of the year and I decided to write some lyrics for this one that often suggested autumn imagery more so than making literal sense. I also utilized some recordings of windchimes I made on my phone.

Hands in the soil
Keys unlatch the pumpkin patch
Tea kettles a-boil
Apples bloom and thunder booms
Gray clouds roll in
Sheets of rain pour down again
Deep puddles begin
To turn dirt red as they spread
Katydid come creeping crawling out
Amid the crops and fields of hay
Slither by the scarecrow scream and shout
Katydid not know the way
Copper leaves fall
All around the dusty ground
As they hear the call
Seasons turn and bonfires burn
Breeze starts to blow
Currents swirl weave and whirl
Candles all aglow
Soft warm light all through the night
Bees zoom through the orchard heading back
Honey dripping in the hive
Out behind the old abandoned shack
Chrysanthemums and zinnias thrive
As the first frost
Settles down on quiet towns
Nothing has been lost
Some things go so new things grow
World still spins
On its axis it relaxes
It is time again
Nature changes rearranges
Earthworms burrow deep inside the dirt
Waiting for their time to shine
All the does and chipmunks stay alert
Overhead the stars align
